Here's a snapshot of the stats: ✨ Women hold just 26% of leadership positions, though they make up around 30% of the overall workforce. ✨ Shockingly, only 1 in 4 management roles are occupied by women. Digging deeper: 🔍 Women represent 33% of junior staff, 24% of mid-level, 15% of senior, and a mere 9% of CEOs across industries. 🔍 In manufacturing, female presence dwindles further: 9% in skilled trades, 23% in process/plant roles, and 23% in management. But there's hope: 💡 Some sectors shine brighter with 43% in Medical/Healthcare, 30% in Food & Beverage, and 29% in General Manufacturing. 💡 Challenges persist, notably in Agriculture (17%), Aerospace/Defense (18%), and Automotive (19%). To bridge this gap: 🚀 Companies are ramping up mentorship, leadership programs, and networks to empower women. 🚀 Gender parity isn't just a moral imperative; it's good for business. “The WEF Blames the "Male Blueprint" for Stalling Women in Leadership Roles”.   The World Economic Forum (WEF) published a recent article (March 2024) highlighting the barriers that prevent women from reaching the C-suite. They point to a drop in female representation from entry-level (around 50%) to senior leadership (around 25%). This stagnation, according to the WEF, stems from a system built on a "Male Blueprint" of leadership – in other words, a traditional view of success involving long hours, international travel, managing heavy workloads, leading from the front, action oriented etc.   This system, they argue, overlooks the unique strengths and values women bring to the table. It also relies on unconscious biases in selection criteria and organizational culture. While the WEF acknowledges initiatives like unconscious bias training, they criticize their limitations. Here's where I disagree with the WEF. While their article is insightful, but it lacks actionable solutions (and I’m not sure about the ‘male blueprint’). So, let's get practical.   It is vital to bridge the gap and help women to reach the top. We need solutions that women executives and organizations can apply to change the overall culture and break the pattern.   You can check my blog where I have spoken about practical help for women and organizations - What is stopping women from reaching the C-suite?   Remember, leadership is demanding, but the rewards are high. You can choose to:   ·       Play the existing game within the "Male Blueprint." I haven't read the WEF report yet, but it appears to start with a conclusion and then aligns the evidence to support their agenda. I tend to agree with Guy Ellis regarding the so-called Male Blueprint. This concept refers to a traditional view of success that involves long hours, international travel, managing heavy workloads, and leading from the front with an action-oriented approach. Leadership styles vary greatly, with some being more effective than others. However, certain fundamental qualities and activities are essential for leadership, and in my experience, female leaders do not possess a unique formula that alters these essentials. I have observed many women entrepreneurs successfully building businesses while managing family responsibilities. They work extremely hard, often putting in long hours and travelling when necessary. There is undoubtedly bias, whether conscious or unconscious, but it is present. Nevertheless, I also see many women choosing different paths, not always aspiring to the boardroom. Notably, a significant number of women are establishing their own businesses, pursuing their ideas, and turning them into profitable ventures.

“Diversity is not only a woman’s story, it is an obligation for each of us.”‼️ Today I attended the amazing webinar about #FemaleEmpowerment in the context of #internationalwomensday at Deloitte. 😍 Here are some insights from the inspiring panel hosted by our Managing Partner Inge Diels: ✅There is a slight progress in the share of female leadership. ✅Don’t wait until you have a leadership role to be a rolemodel, you can be that at all levels. ✅People often see the succes, but it is important to show the struggles and talk about it. ✅Perceived female related leadership characteristics such as showing empathy, should be shown more by men and be gender neutral. ✅There is a positive correlation of likeability and succes for men, but a negative correlation for women. ✅Do not believe in one size fits all, life is not linear, just find the right balance.
