Great Milu Health patient win yesterday: An employee at one of our clients had their standard annual checkup and bloodwork. The lab results came back high for cholesterol and their doctor prescribed a statin & recommended a low-fat diet to prevent heart attack and stroke. 💻 The patient had connected their EHR to Milu and our system saw the appointment and the new prescription. We identified a cost savings opportunity on the prescription and an alert was sent to the patient. 🚨 They wrote back saying "what are you talking about....I don't have a new prescription"....turns out that the order was never placed and the patient was never notified. They had no idea they needed to get on a statin or low-fat diet. And this isn't a one-off. 20% of new prescriptions for statins in the US are never filled. We think this is a great opportunity to leverage data + AI in new ways to fill care gaps for patients...and to do it at scale. ✅ Now the employee is getting the medication.

Take a shot and see what happens.... Was expecting a poster and not an oral presentation! There is no shortage of news about 'limited GP access' and 'enhancing access' but where does that lead us with health promotion and offering of new services. One solution was that we tried was through the use of AccuRx and a practice YouTube account. Within our area, we had a diabetes remission programme that was focusing on an ultra-low calorie diet which was provided to reverse or improve diabetic control, brilliant! The issue that I had was from a quick search there were at least 40 patients who were potentially suitable. This is a huge amount of work to co-ordinate, either offering appointments, a mass group consultation, sending them to the website. The issue then is the co-ordination of all of this as well and the impact to the 'back room staff' about contacting patients, booking them in and then what to do if they miss the appointment. In this method, we recorded a short video explaining the service (https://lnkd.in/ew53BxMH) and then an AccuRx (text message) with an automatic respond function. They were then followed up with a short questionnaire to see if they found it useful: Overall results: ✅ 15 patients succesfully referred compared with 1 in the previous 6 months ✅ Positive feedback from patients as a way to access care ✅ Minimal impact to wider clinical staff.
