We've been featured in Fast Company! At ScholarshipOwl, we’re thrilled to witness major brands like Burger King, Coca-Cola, and Lockheed Martin utilizing scholarships to connect with Gen Z. A recent article by Fast Company https://lnkd.in/dih-hZ3z showcases this growing trend where scholarships are being leveraged to foster engagement and loyalty among young audiences. The ability to create scholarships can be an asset businesses, especially as they’re trying to connect with Gen Z—which are notoriously difficult to nail down as a consumer set. “Brands don’t really have a way to reach them,” CEO David Tabachnikov says “They aren’t watching TV, they’re browsing with ad blockers . . . and yet, they’re the biggest future consumer segment. The brands that catch them? They gain customers for a very long time.” “Scholarships are one of the few ways to actually reach them,” Read the article below and learn more about scholarship campaigns here: https://lnkd.in/d8CW7HmW #genzmarketing #scholarships #advertisingandmarketing

Earlier this year, I wrote about "The Support Gap: An Opportunity to Help Gen Z in an evolving educational & professional landscape" Because from financial wellness to upskilling or internships - Gen Z is looking to brands for support! Today, brands from Burger King to The Coca-Cola Company to Lockheed Martin are starting to take note, leaning in on new scholarships to capture Gen Z.. MARKETING MEETS THE STUDENT DEBT CRISIS "On the surface, giving money away seems at odds with most corporate goals, particularly in an era of cost-cutting and layoffs. And the idea of businesses utilizing scholarships as a marketing tool may have a whiff of impurity to it. But in the end, it’s better that some money is making its way out of corporate coffers and into the hands of young people, says Cait Lamberton, a professor of marketing at the University of Pennsylvania and co-editor of the Journal of Marketing." 📚 Check out more here: https://lnkd.in/g4kTiD7U #GenZ #financialwellness #genzbrands #Genzmarketing #scholarships

#ICYMI: Walmart is highlighted in this recent NPR article along with other major employers for partnering with colleges to award credit for workplace training programs, paving the way for workers to earn college degrees faster and at lower costs. Walmart has over a dozen short-form certificates and 25 training courses — in tech, leadership, digital operations — that translate to credit at partner universities. The car-service chain Jiffy Lube has its own college credit program, too. These programs will benefit the employer, higher ed institutions, and employee-learners as Amber Garrison Duncan, C-BEN Executive VP & COO adds, “For adults who feel like they weren’t college material, what we are able to do is say, "You are. And you’re doing college-level work already." We’re thrilled to see companies like Walmart and McDonald’s take such significant strides in the skills-based movement. Founder and CEO, AthleteGEM™ “Uniquely Rare | Undeniably Real" | Chairman, Athlete Jewelers Alliance™ | NIL Jewelry Collective - AthleteGEM™ LOCKER) | WHITE ROCKS Diamond Co.
From Gridiron Grit to Gemstones: Lessons Learned on and Off the Field... Growing up, sports weren't just a pastime; they were my escape, my identity, and the crucible that forged my character. Despite coming from humble beginnings, on the athletic field I found joy, discipline, and resilience. While I may have fabricated a trust fund to fit in, the reality was grit and hard work were my true assets. One pivotal moment came during my high school football career. My coach, despite the small eight-man team, saw a potential I couldn't yet grasp. He ignited a fire within me, showing me the path to college football through dedication and effort. This became my new playing field, a goal worth fighting for. After high school, I walked on at a community college, eventually earning a scholarship. The University of Arkansas offered a partial scholarship, but a full ride at Southern Arkansas University opened a different door. While a part of me still wonders "what if", this path led me to the love of my life, our children, and an unexpected apprenticeship under a second-generation jeweler. On the field, one of the most valuable lessons I learned was playing my position. As captain of the defense, staying disciplined and focused was crucial, even when I wanted to be everywhere at once. My proudest moment wasn't about individual accolades, but witnessing my team achieve its best season in a decade. Fueled by collective spirit and unwavering focus, we tasted the sweet victory of shared success. The knowledge that I played a key role in this, alongside my teammates, surpassed any individual accomplishment. These lessons transcended the athletic world, shaping the foundation of my 33-year journey in the jewelry business. Discipline, hard work, preparation, teamwork, and perseverance became my core values. This collaborative spirit fuels not only my business endeavors but also guides my family life and fosters the relationships I nurture with colleagues. In both sports and business, success thrives when a team aligns its focus, leaving "what ifs" behind. It's in this united front that true victory lies, on and off the field. #FromUnderdogToChampion #SportsAndBusinessLessons #FamilyValuesAndTeamwork

Teacher | Certified Journalism Educator | 2021 Runner-up National Broadcast Teacher of the Year | Recent MBA Grad
We’re less than three weeks away from the #KDGrad ceremony and I'm counting down my Top 10 Kelley Moments over the last three years. At number 3, Kelley. On. Campus. Everything that makes the Indiana University - Kelley School of Business great is embodied within this 5 day period. Many students attend after their first term or two. For some it’s their first event before taking a single course. In my case, I couldn’t attend with most of my cohort in 2021 and had to wait to join the two cohorts behind me. I was given the option to take a substitute course but my response boiled down to: “No way!” I wanted this experience. It lived up to every expectation. My top concern to start the week was that I would feel like an outsider. If I had attended the session with my cohort, at least I would see familiar names faces from online meetings. As it was, I knew only a select few on that May 2022 roster. It mattered not. There wasn’t a stranger amongst us. Every classmate was receptive and excited to be in attendance. In particular, the first full day was filled with more laughter than I had experienced in several years (it also just felt great to not be masked around a crowd at that particular point in time). In many ways, the week harkened back to summer camps from my youth. We made countless new friends, clung to all the precise knowledge our professors had crafted for us, and ultimately put our skills to the test making a strategic recommendation for Post Consumer Brands. I could write an essay on this course, but that might ruin the fun for anyone whose future it resides. Just know this: if you find yourself apprehensive at all about the MBA journey, Kelley on Campus will put all that to rest. Nearly two years later, I can say it was unquestionably the single most exhilarating experience in a program full of thrilling opportunities. Shoutout to the outstanding gentlemen from my group that made the time worthwhile: Shankha Bhattacharya, Stephen C. Day III, Andrew Murphy, Jainil Patel, PMP, and Benjamin Vowell
