This 👇🏽 was such a fun and engaging conversation on the Make it Mindful podcast. Seth Fleischauer asked what I believe are some of the most important questions we need to be answering in education! At the top of the list is the power of a predictable learning environment that is intentionally designed to increase the number of interactions students receive with what they are trying to learn. The more interactions the better! One and done teaching is a thing of the past! Doug Lemov says, "Consider one unmistakable driver of students’ achievement: Carefully built and practiced routines…” - Teach Like a Champion Marzano Research adds, "Teachers should find ways to expose students to details multiples times - at least three - ....ideally no more than two days apart.” - Classroom Instruction That Works Therefore, the goal is to design a routine that increases the number of interactions students receive with what they are learning. One way to accomplish this is to implement a predictable daily learning routine that begins and concludes with retrieval practice and spacing. By doing so, teachers create more consistent learning spaces, increase the number of exposures students have with what they are learning, while tapping into powerful, student-driven, formative feedback. Thanks for having me on the show, Seth! 🔗 Watch the full episode now: https://lnkd.in/g_NWUKet
Repetition builds retention. The more students interact with their learning, the more it sticks.
