In the world of business, some of the most inspiring entrepreneurial journeys are born out of adversity. Many successful entrepreneurs began their ventures after being fired from long-term corporate positions where their contributions were underappreciated. Despite dedicating years of hard work and innovation, these individuals often found themselves let go due to restructuring or a lack of recognition for their efforts. However, what seemed like a career-ending blow became a powerful catalyst for change. Armed with years of experience and a deep understanding of their industries, these professionals decided to take control of their destinies. The skills and knowledge they honed while working on someone else’s budget provided a solid foundation for their entrepreneurial pursuits. They leveraged their expertise to start their own businesses, turning their setbacks into opportunities for growth and success. These entrepreneurs understood that the corporate world had prepared them well, giving them the practical experience and industry insights necessary to thrive independently. They used this background to identify market gaps and innovate, creating solutions that quickly gained traction and recognition.

After a business has ended… It’s been quite a heavy few months of business struggles, closures or other handovers in food and drink with a fair few founders I know affected. I just wanted to post and say that I also know many founders who have been through similar experiences in the past and have used that experience. Some have used it to decide that founding is not for them and that employment is. Some have gone in to consultancy and shared their valuable lessons with other businesses. Some have gone again and started something new. Others have changed direction completely and followed a different passion in life they hadn’t had the chance to explore before. Generally these are the people I like to learn from. Empathies with any founders going through it now. Looking forward to learning from you in future. #startuplife #entrepreneurship #founderlife #founders ______________________ I found this fallen leaf with star-shaped pattern (possibly created by a leaf-miner?) yesterday and it struck me as rather symbolic.

When I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey, I had no idea that I would end up losing nearly all of my friends. This experience highlights just how deeply ingrained the belief in securing a traditional job is within our culture. It's a testament to the societal pressures that often discourage those who dare to pursue a different path Venturing into uncharted territory and questioning the status quo is not for the faint-hearted. It requires immense courage and resilience to break away from conventional norms and forge your way The road less traveled is often fraught with challenges, and it takes a steadfast determination to navigate through them. To truly carve out your destiny, you must possess an unwavering spirit and a relentless drive. The journey of entrepreneurship demands not only vision but also the strength to withstand the trials that come with it. Embracing this path means being prepared to face adversity head-on and remain committed to your goals, regardless of the obstacles that may arise.

Recently, a new F&B brand owner reached out to me for advice. She was navigating the challenges of finding her space in the industry without any mentors or advisors on board. While typical founder challenges can often be addressed with strategy and perseverance, what struck me in our 30-minute conversation was something deeper. Amidst discussions on operational hurdles, bouts of self-doubt surfaced—hesitations about hiring, concerns about cash flow, and more. It became clear that many early-stage entrepreneurs struggle not with the work itself or the quality of their product, but with feeling worthy enough to hire and grow. In today's entrepreneurial landscape, there's a prevalent allure to strike out on our own terms, but the reality is far from glamorous. Whenever someone approaches me about leaving their job to start a business, I emphasize one crucial point: it's not easy, my friend. Before diving into business plans and growth strategies, we must first believe in our own value and worthiness. This will make the process much faster and also reduce the impact of challenges we will face later on. True success begins with an internal shift—an acknowledgment of our capabilities and the courage to overcome self-imposed limitations. Remember, it’s something within that stops something outside. "To fix the outside, you need to fix the inside first" #Entrepreneurship #BusinessAdvice #SelfBelief #StartupJourney #Learntherightway #womenentrepreneur

💭 Reflecting on 18 Years of Entrepreneurship: A reminder this week of the big WHY! Eighteen years ago, I embarked on a journey into entrepreneurship with a clear vision in mind: to create a life where I could work on my own terms when it came to being there for my daughter. Recently, I've been reminded of this very reason of why I started this journey. My daughter, now at uni, unexpectedly had to come home due to illness. (She's doing well but needed looking after). In moments like these, I'm profoundly grateful for the flexibility that comes with running my own business. I haven't had to seek anyone's permission or navigate bureaucratic hurdles to prioritise what matters most: being there for my family when they need me. I'd like to think that employers are getting better at this now...but I'm not convinced yet. Since 2006 I've encountered my fair share of challenges and rough edges along the way. From sleepless nights and daunting business decisions to navigating finances and managing teams, the entrepreneurial journey is undoubtedly a rollercoaster ride. Yet, amidst the chaos and uncertainty, there's an undeniable upside to entrepreneurship: the freedom to shape your own destiny and prioritise what truly matters in life. It's the ability to find a silver lining in the midst of adversity and to cherish the moments that remind us why we embarked on this journey in the first place. Many of my customers and business partners are in this same situation. Often with much younger children like I had when I started. I say to you that it might not feel like the easiest path at times and that's because it isn't but don't forget your big WHY either. So, here's to 18 years of entrepreneurship—a journey marked by resilience, growth, and the pursuit of freedom and flexibility. And as I continue to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of business, I'm reminded that sometimes, the greatest rewards come from the simplest moments of being there for the ones we love. #Entrepreneurship #Flexibility #FamilyFirst #BusinessJourney #Reflections

Pic: Circa Nov 2013 1 of 2 Small Fry Food Trucks we owned. 🌟 From Corporate Success to Entrepreneurial Freedom: My Journey to Impact 🌟 For years, I thrived in high-stress environments like those at companies like Netflix, constantly pushing myself to excel and fearing the possibility of being let go, despite being one of the top performers wherever I went. The weight of success and the responsibility of providing for my family always felt heavy. But in the pressures of corporate life, I harbored a burning desire to build something of my own. I refused to rely solely on others to fulfill my dreams while I tirelessly worked to make theirs a reality. So, I ventured into the world of entrepreneurship, where I embarked on a rollercoaster ride of building successful ventures and weathering the storms of failure. Each experience taught me invaluable lessons, shaping me into the resilient and resourceful entrepreneur I am today. Now, armed with the knowledge gleaned from both corporate and entrepreneurial endeavors, I empower businesses to create the lives they've always envisioned. I find joy in helping others navigate the complexities of entrepreneurship and make meaningful impacts in their industries. Because here's the truth: life is too short to spend it unhappy, stressed, or feeling lost. We all have dreams and desires waiting to be realized. Sometimes, all it takes is a guiding hand to remind us of our potential and help us find the path to success. That's why I'm here—to be that guiding hand for you. Take action today, because messy action is better than no action. Together, let's turn your dreams into reality and make the most of this precious life we've been given. #SerialEntrepreneur #EntrepreneurialJourney #Empowerment #Impact #DreamBig #TakeAction #LinkedInPost
