How accurate is a standard* materiality assessment? Comparing #orsted's #CSRD-aligned 2023 annual report with Mettle's #opensource materiality assessment, there is strong overlap BUT... - E2. Pollution isn't judged material despite being prominent in what the company has previously published - S.1 Own Workforce and S2. Workers in the Value Chain are judged material despite being non-material in stakeholders' conversations. For your free topline 2024 open source materiality assessment, go to https://lnkd.in/eC-buXQC *The standard method of conducting an ESRS double materiality assessment is to send questionnaires to selected stakeholders. This approach is expensive, slow and open to challenge by assurance providers. As a better alternative, Mettle has developed an open source approach to materiality assessment using all the information available in public. This approach is more affordable, quick and transparent/objective, allowing focus to be on reporting within the material areas. The benefits of the Open Source Materiality Assessment (OSMA) are: - Pre-populated engagement with ALL affected stakeholders. - Automated identification of relevant topics and sub-topics within the ESRS taxonomy. - Assurance-ready transparency of underlying data points. - Export materiality assessment to your reporting software. - Flat rate annual fee

Another relatively new remediation project where the initial task was to do some LNAPL field recovery potential tests using The NET System. These are done as either trials or at the start of a project. Finding out there’s not much to recover is a project plus point, as it means one is close or at the remedial end point almost at the beginning. This a great evaluation tool as well as an extraction tool (if there’s something to extract, then the contractor is trained to operate and collect the data required to achieve regulatory sign off). When there’s an extraction project that has legs, we always advocate that contractors purchase from inventors/suppliers Environmental International Corporation. Just reach out to Dave Rutherford if you have a potential NAPL project causing you headaches or is a puzzle on the best way forward. Don’t forget to include The NET System in remedial options appraisals too (it is not a traditional belt skimmer, so one not to get confused with).
