CeNTI integrates the UMinho Innovation Alliance
Eleven institutions from Northern Portugal have come together to explore complementarities in building common Research and Development agendas for new products, processes, and systems.
This collaborative network encompasses the entire Innovation chain, from concept phase, through prototyping and validation to industrial implementation.
In addition to disseminating and enhancing scientific and technological knowledge, the agreement includes the sharing and coordination of infrastructures, as well as the joint exploration of internationalisation opportunities.
The UMinho Innovation Alliance was formally established and presented yesterday at the Azurém campus of the Universidade do Minho in Guimarães, Portugal.

✨Strengthening Cluster Innovation Through Quadruple Helix Collaboration
The Cluj IT team participated in a groundbreaking peer review event in Budapest on November 14–15, 2024. This transformative gathering, titled "Improving the Cooperation of Clusters with the Participants of the Hungarian Quadruple Helix," brought together key government, academia, industry, and community stakeholders to advance cluster innovation and visibility. MediKlaszter and the Lietuvos inovacijų centras / Lithuanian Innovation Centre (LIC) hosted the event in collaboration with international experts.
Laviniu C., Innovation Manager at Cluj IT, captured the essence of the discussions: "Beyond the ambition of uniting all regional innovators, it is vital to empower life science innovators to improve the health and longevity of the population in our regions." He also moderated an insightful discussion on strengthening relationships between governmental institutions and clusters to foster better collaboration. His insights underscored the importance of empowering diverse stakeholders to co-create solutions that address pressing challenges in innovation ecosystems.
The discussions in Budapest led to several practical takeaways:
- creating strong platforms for collaboration and making sure policies support, rather than limit innovation;
-strengthening these frameworks and increasing cooperation, especially in health clusters, will be the key to success;
-forging international partnerships and sharing knowledge across borders enables clusters to sustain long-term growth and competitiveness;
We believe that forming international teams, sharing expertise, and working together are essential steps toward long-term growth.

🥳 #i2CATResearch | We’re proud to rank among the top 15 research entities in Spain with the highest participation in the #HorizonEurope programme during 2021–2023, according to a report by CDTI Innovación - Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación, part of the Ministry of Science and Innovation of Spain.
🇪🇺 We secured 24 projects worth over €10M, ranking 12th among Spanish research institutions. Notably, we achieved a strategic position in Cluster 4 'Digital, Industry & Space,' with 20 projects and nearly €9M, making us the 5th top-funded research center in Catalonia for this cluster.
📡 Our research centre is strategically positioned in the 6G Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU) programme. During the analysed period, we were the 3rd Spanish entity by participation, with 10 projects receiving over €4M in funding. Part of Horizon Europe, the SNS focuses on advancing technologies for next-generation mobile networks and services.
