Are you coming to the APS Global Physics Summit 2025? Join our 4-hour tutorial on "Physics and Mathematics for the Climate Crisis", with Valerio Lucarini, Mickaël D. Chekroun, Francesco Ragone and me. I'm excited to be talking about metastability in the Earth system, connecting theory with modeling and observations. Further topics will include climate variability and change, tipping points, and extreme events. Who should attend? Graduate students, early career researchers, and other scientists who either a) are curious to explore research opportunities in the area of physics and mathematics of climate, or b) are interested in multiscale and metastable complex systems; or c) aim at achieving a better understanding of key aspects of the ongoing climatic crisis. The lectures will provide a pedagogical introduction to key problems in climate science and link them to fundamental, wide-ranging ideas of physics. You can sign up for the tutorial when registering for the summit. The deadline for contributed abstracts is October 25! Step into the fascinating realm of Chapter Motion in Class 9 Physics with Renu Physics! Join Renu Ma'am as she unravels the fundamental concepts of motion, exploring both the static and dynamic aspects, along with essential parameters like distance, displacement, velocity, and acceleration. In this video: Delve into the distinction between Static and Dynamic motion, understanding how objects can be either at rest or in motion, setting the stage for a deeper exploration of the dynamics of movement. Explore the concepts of Distance and Displacement, essential measures in describing the motion of objects. Learn how distance refers to the total path length travelled, while displacement represents the shortest distance between initial and final positions. Grasp the nuances of Velocity, a vector quantity that describes the rate of change of displacement over time. Understanding how velocity includes both speed (magnitude) and direction, crucial for understanding the motion of objects. Dive into the concept of Acceleration, the rate of change of velocity over time. Learn how acceleration can be positive (speeding up), negative (slowing down), or zero (constant velocity), shedding light on the dynamic nature of motion. Let Renu Ma'am be your trusted mentor as you navigate through these fundamental concepts of motion, empowering you to understand and analyze the dynamics of movement with clarity and confidence! ✨ Exciting Announcement ✨ I’m thrilled to share that I have completed the King’s Undergraduate Research Fellowship (KURF) this summer, where I had the incredible opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in theoretical atomic, molecular, and optical physics as part of the Atto@King’s team. 🌌 My project focused on exploring quantum tunnelling without a barrier — a fascinating phenomenon where particles pass through potential barriers in ways that defy classical physics. Specifically, we investigated an unexpected tunnelilng event that occurs when the electric field of a two-color laser field is zero. This research deepens our understanding of strong-field ionization and its crucial role in processes like high-harmonic generation and attosecond science. Throughout the fellowship, I: - Conducted extensive literature reviews and numerical simulations, - Analyzed electron trajectories in real and complex spaces, - Visualized the results of velocities and acceleration under the tunneling barrier, - Examined key features of this topologically stable tunneling event. This summer has been a whirlwind of learning, growth, and discovery, and I’m excited to continue this research as part of my third-year project. I’m also working on summarizing my results into a KURF poster and a research paper. Huge thanks to my supervisors Emilio Pisanty and Anne Weber for their mentorship and guidance, as well as the Atto@King's group for their support and collaboration!
