Teaching color theory is a key part of our coursework in color management. RIT faculty member Bill Pope started the semester with a live demonstration of additive color theory using colored LED flashlights. During lecture, students overlap the lights to create the complimentary primaries (CMY) and white, then adjust the proximity of the lights to the screen to see the resulting impacts on hue and color balance. Active learning is an important part of our department's teaching philosophy. #rit #ritcet #color #additivecolor #activelearning.

Todays reflection comes from a discussion with educators regarding instruments. At Allegro Education, we understand that budgets can be tight, but that doesn't mean children should miss out on creative arts programs! Home made shakers from bottles, or drums using loose parts are great affordable alternatives to using instruments. But it does pose the question: Are these still 'real' instruments? And do they offer the same educational benefits? Comment your thoughts below! #earlychildhoodeducation #creativearts #musiceducation

Prepping for my guest lecture at School of Visual Arts tomorrow in the designer toy class of Jason Freeny ... students get to benefit from a "Cliffs Notes" version of my personal observations and analysis of our industry over the past two decades. Working artists and aspiring toy artists tend to ask me similar sets of questions about how to proceed into their character art careers, so I distilled all of that knowledge down into two main topics which are easily relatable: 1. how to generate interest in your characters and make that human / emotional connection with your potential audience, and 2. how to merchandise your own IP in a logical way that doesn't involve going broke or into debt. I have posted an online version of this lecture here: https://lnkd.in/ejNUeXyw But if you want a PDF version of my slide lecture, feel free to DM me.

https://lnkd.in/gaMqfw7F With our lessons, your students will learn to identify and create art using these elements. We have designed our lessons to be both fun and educational, so your students will enjoy learning about the basics of art. Here are just a few of the ways you can incorporate our Art Lesson Bundle into your lesson plan: Create collaborative art projects that incorporate all four elements. Your students can work together to create a large mural that features various lines, shapes, textures, and patterns. Integrate technology by having your students use online drawing programs to create digital art that showcases the elements of art. They can then present their creations to the class. Create a scavenger hunt around the school where students must identify and photograph examples of the elements of art in their surroundings. Use the elements of art to teach about different cultures and traditions. For example, students can learn about African textiles and create their own patterns and textures inspired by these works of art.

I help men who are stuck, feeling alone and struggling to make a difference reclaim their purpose, create meaningful relationships and leave a legacy they are proud of.
Lessons from a toddler. Curate your life by learning to say “no”. Ever spent time around a toddler? Saying ‘NO’ to practically anything is their most favorite activity. Psychologically they are discovering they are not extensions of their parents. They are separate beings and are learning where boundaries end and begin. At some point we lose the art of saying ‘no’ and sacrifice much in the process. Think of the last great museum you went to. The walls were not full top to bottom with paintings and drawings. There is more white space than actual pieces of art. Start to think of your life as a museum and you are its curator. Only the relationships that bring you joy are allowed. If something isn’t a ‘Hell yes!’, then it’s a ‘no’. Be just as proud of what you don't do, as you are the things you decide to do. Start small and give yourself grace as you relearn this skill. ⬳ Thanks for reading! If you enjoyed this, please repost ♻️ and follow me for more ideas like this in the future.
