The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) confirms the Ethiopia's airports are free from security threats. This announcement follows a rigorous security audit conducted by ICAO. During a press conference, Asrat Kejela, Director of the Civil Aviation Security Main Department, revealed details of the audit. ICAO experts assessed eight key elements and nine specific areas of aviation security, ultimately commending Ethiopia's strong security framework. This ICAO clearance allows Ethiopia to expand its flight routes without additional security checks and creates a favorable environment for other airlines to operate. Enhanced aviation safety is expected to fuel tourism growth and contribute to Ethiopia's overall socio-economic development. Ethiopia, a member of ICAO since its inception in 1944, was one of the first African countries to sign the Chicago Convention.

Bermuda islands brings to mind pink sand beaches, crystal-clear turquoise waters, colorful coral reefs, and the iconic Bermuda shorts. It's also known for its unique blend of British and American influences, as well as its mysterious Bermuda Triangle. Recently, the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) of the Bermuda Tower received an email bomb threat on a British Airways flight prior to taking off. The exchange with ATC and the pilot took approximately an hour to determine what actions should be taken. Airports should have strict protocols for handling bomb threats. When a threat is received, airport authorities typically initiate emergency procedures, which may include evacuating affected areas, searching for suspicious items or packages, and coordinating with law enforcement agencies such as the police and bomb squads. Additionally, airports may implement heightened security measures and conduct thorough screenings of passengers and luggage. The specific procedures can vary depending on the severity of the threat and the policies of the airport and relevant authorities. Overall, vulnerability assessments play a vital role in ensuring the security, resilience, and efficient operation of airports, thereby contributing to the broader goals of aviation safety and national security. Vulnerability assessments are crucial for airports to identify and mitigate potential security weaknesses and risks. By conducting these assessments, airports can enhance security, protect passengers and staff, maintain regulatory compliance, and preserve reputation and trust. https://lnkd.in/dChZAVY #vulnerabilityassessments #airportsafetymeasures #travelriskmanagement #TRM #travelriskacademy
