🇮🇷 #Tehran Issues Airspace Warnings Over #Sudan, #Ukraine, and #Afghanistan Tehran, August 19, 2024 — The Iranian Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a series of airspace safety and security warnings, advising caution to airline operators flying over several conflict-affected regions. 1. Sudan - Khartoum FIR: Tehran has warned all airlines to avoid entering the #Khartoum Flight Information Region (FIR) within Sudan due to the heightened risk from anti-aircraft weaponry and increased military activity in the area. Operators are urged to consult contingency routing procedures and contact the Iranian CAA for further details. 2. Ukraine: In light of the ongoing conflict in #Ukraine, Tehran has advised against flying in several Ukrainian FIRs, including #Dnipro, #Simferopol, #Lviv, #Odesa, and #Kyiv, as well as over #Moldova and #Russia’s #Rostov FIR. The warning highlights the potential risk from military activity and anti-aviation weaponry, urging Iranian-registered operators to factor in these risks when planning flights. 3. #Afghanistan - #Kabul FIR: A significant risk warning has also been issued for flights entering or departing the Kabul FIR in Afghanistan. Due to the volatile security situation, the lack of air traffic services, and the ongoing militant activity, airlines are advised to exercise extreme caution. Tehran's CAA emphasized the need for thorough risk assessments for any operations in this airspace. Additionally, all flights entering Tehran FIR from Kabul FIR are required to establish contact with Tehran Area Control Center (ACC) at least five minutes before crossing the boundary to ensure safe coordination. These warnings reflect the ongoing instability in these regions and underscore the importance of enhanced vigilance and risk management in flight operations.

The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah is escalating. The IDF has been given the green light to start full-scale operations against Hezbollah and halt the their attacks on Israel. A full scale operation will very likely involve air strikes on #Beirut, including the international airport which is believed to house a large cache of Hezbollah weaponry. Israel has in the past destroyed the runway. Several countries, including Kuwait, Germany, Canada and others have advised their citizens to leave Lebanon while it is still possible. The IDF will likely give foreigners some days to leave the country, but they will start their operation soon. We advise commercial operators to start winding down their operations in #Lebanon to avoid crew and aircraft remaining stuck in the country. dyami | security intelligence | count on us #lebanon #beirut #aviation #israel #bizav #conflictzones #businessaviation #aviationsecurity #airspacesafety

Spirit Airlines denies reports on the resumption of flights to Cap-Haitien and Port-au-Prince. "The information that we are resuming service in Cap-Haitien on March 5, 2025, is not accurate. Our service in Cap-Haitien and Port-au-Prince remains suspended until further notice. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as needed," says Thomas Flecher, head of press relations for Spirit Airlines. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has already banned all American carriers in Haiti until March after gang members fired gunshots at a Spirit airplane and two other airliners in Port-au-Prince while they were attempting to land at Toussaint Louverture International Airport in November last year. Tank vessels bound for Russia transmit false position data in the Gulf of Finland. The Finnish Border Guard warns that vessels sailing in the Gulf of Finland are increasingly transmitting deviating or outright false information about their position. According to the Deputy Commander of the Gulf of Finland Maritime Patrol Section, Mikko Hirvi, the number of vessels that transmit AIS signals which deviate from the ships actual positions in the Gulf of Finland are increasing. Such practices pose a threat to navigational safety. For those who are not familiar with the Automatic Identification System (AIS), it transmits a ship's exact position at short intervals. Onboard AIS transmitters can be switched off or manipulated to report false positions. According to Mikko Hirvi, it is primarily tankers bound for key Russian ports - such as Ust-Luga and Primorsk - that are manipulating their AIS data in order to blur out their port calls to Russia.

An Azerbaijan Airlines flight was reportedly shot down by a Russian air defense system near Aktau, Kazakhstan, killing 38 people. Preliminary findings from Azerbaijan’s investigation indicate that the Embraer passenger jet was struck by a Russian Pantsir-S system, according to four sources familiar with the probe. Flight J2-8243 had departed from Baku, Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia, before diverting hundreds of miles across the Caspian Sea. The aircraft crashed in a ball of fire, with communications reportedly disabled by Russian electronic warfare systems near Grozny. Officials have not clarified why the plane veered off course. Russia’s aviation watchdog suggested a bird strike might have caused an emergency, but evidence of shrapnel damage on the wreckage and GPS jamming along the flight path points to anti-aircraft fire, according to aviation security firm Osprey Flight Solutions. While Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Qanat Bozymbaev refrained from confirming or denying the allegations, Azerbaijan expects Russia to acknowledge responsibility. The Kremlin stated it would wait for the investigation to conclude before commenting. Of the 67 passengers aboard, 29 survived, with video footage showing oxygen masks deployed and passengers wearing life vests before the crash. The investigation continues amid heightened tensions in the region. For more updates follow @gazettenowofficial or visit www.gazettenow.com #azerbaijanairlines #russia #gazettenow #trendingnow
