Emmi’s Closet is a shining example of turning passion into profit. What began as a hobby for sustainable fashion evolved into a thriving online boutique. However, the journey wasn’t without its challenges. When the pandemic hit, Michelle Nguyen had to pivot quickly, transforming her closet cleanout into a full-fledged business. Yet, a year in, growth stalled, and she realized she needed help. That’s when she turned to SCORE. Matched with a local mentor, Michelle received guidance on everything from business planning to SEO and financial management. Her mentors encouraged her to think strategically, take calculated risks and believe in her vision. Build your entrepreneurial 'muscle memory.' (Yes, it's exactly the kind you're thinking about) → When you hit the gym after a break, → your body recalls each and every lift & squat. → You aren't starting from zero. It's a comeback. And the same goes for business. Just like getting back into shape... — Each challenge you've faced, — each success you've had, it all builds — your entrepreneurial 'muscle memory.' Pivoting in business with this mindset means: → Tapping into past experiences effortlessly. → Adapting to new challenges with familiar strategies. → Leveraging learned lessons without breaking a sweat. Whether it's at the gym or in the boardroom, the power to persevere and adapt comes from within. Let your past challenges become muscle memory. Embrace them. Learn from them. Grow from them. P.S. Are you building your entrepreneurial muscle memory?

This year my business turns 10! It started when a friend asked me to help her finish a website that she’d paid someone else to do. They were dragging their feet because she hadn’t sent them the content, but she didn’t know what the website needed to look and sound like, to achieve its goals. The friend was positive about the results we achieved together and recommended me to a couple of her friends. And the ball began to roll. Over the past 10 years, I’ve definitely made some mistakes, but consistently doing what other people in this business have tended not to do, has never felt like one of them. I’ve worked for friends, and remained friends with those people. I’ve worked with people who don’t know very much about business or marketing, and enjoyed helping them learn. I’ve passed on potentially lucrative jobs, because the client seemed like a jerk who was just interested in the money. I’ve done almost all the work that goes into each website myself, choosing not to offshore the process into a production line. I’ve charged based on the time it will take me to do the job, not as much as I can get away with. I’ve learnt a lot about a lot of things along the way, and seen the many faces of entrepreneurship. Not obnoxious make-my-first-million entrepreneurship, the uncomplicated kind with the potential to change lives and improve outcomes for families and communities. Has this approach worked? For me, it has. Everyone has different measures of success. Mine has been to have the flexibility to do meaningful work for people I can respect, while being able to care for my now teenage children and animals. By my measure of success, this business has surpassed my expectations and I’m excited at the prospect of the next 10 years.

Happiness Mentor - I work with unfulfilled professionals, creatives, and entrepreneurs gain clarity on their true life's purpose and craft a roadmap to their ideal "2.0" version.
Why do we often put our passions on the back burner? In the world of entrepreneurship, it's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day grind, chasing milestones, and focusing solely on the bottom line. However, integrating your true passions into your business model isn’t just fulfilling; it can be a game-changer for your business. Passions ignite creativity, drive innovation, and attract like-minded individuals - both customers and team members. They give your business a unique flavor and can set you apart in a crowded market. More importantly, they keep you motivated during tough times. So, ask yourself – are you running the business of your dreams? Or is it time to reignite your passions within your entrepreneurial journey? Remember, life's too short to not do what you love. Let's make every moment count.

Celebrating victories is one of the most important ways to keep perspective. We should treat victories the same way we treat steps. We know full well that some steps are leaps, some are cautious, some are little shuffles. But they ARE steps and they do go forward. The same for victories. Some are big and the whole world notices, they come with trumpets and fanfare. Some are smaller and they come with a whisper and a reminder that you are on the right path. Sometimes you have 10 in a week, and sometimes you have to look really closely to see even 1! Einstein said there are two types of people: some who don’t believe in miracles, and some who see everything as miracles. Choose to be the latter. Even when it is difficult!

When was the last time you paused to celebrate the victories, big or small, in your business? Last Friday, I had the pleasure of rejoicing in a friend's 10-year milestone in business, and it got me thinking. The entrepreneur journey is long, with many a winding turn. It’s important to capture the turning points along the way. Remember when you made your first sale? Or perhaps the moment your online store opened? These moments fuel your entrepreneurial spirit and remind us anything is possible. I understand the hustle of running a small business. That's why I make it a point to celebrate each year my agency is older, just like my friend did for her photography business. Whether it's a small gathering with your team or a virtual toast with fellow entrepreneurs, make celebrating your small business milestones a tradition. Because every step toward success is a testament to your resilience and determination. So, let's raise a glass to your successes, big and small! 🥂 #gratitude #gratitudepractice #startbeforeyoureready #businessgrowth

The Mama of Systems Change 🪄 Facilitator, Listening Partner & Systems Change Strategist 🌈 Cultivating communities for BIPOC changemakers 🖤🤎
What’s your entrepreneur origin story? Mine began in 1982. That’s me pictured in the heart of my mom’s window treatment samples, creating a business flier to showcase her offerings on her very first business letterhead. This is how the boomers mastered promotion. Fast forward to today, and I craft my promotional materials using Canva—from my iPhone to my laptop. Couldn't resist sharing this gem with my mom this week, and an unexpected fun fact emerged—by featuring me in her business ad, people expected my mom to bring “the baby” (aka me) to appointments. One client insisted on watching me while my mom measured the windows 🪟 The dream for a #workingmom 🤩 🪄 Have you continued a family tradition of entrepreneurship? 🪄 Or perhaps you're the trailblazer in your family, starting the entrepreneurial legacy? Let’s celebrate the intergenerational impact of entrepreneurship! Share your stories in the comments below, and let's learn from each other's experiences 👇🏽 Happy #FridayFlashback ⚡️ Image ID: A business flier featuring Jillian “Mama J” Love in the center, promoting the savings offered by MGR’s Interior’s Resource (Jillian’s mom’s first business) to clients. #familybusiness #thenandnow #intergenerationalmarketing

Lead to Create Change: Thought Partnership & Strategic Business Coaching for Established Mom Founders & Entrepreneurs | Freedom & Flexibility for Mom Entrepreneurs & Founders | Author | Keynote Speaker
There’s programs for newer entrepreneurs teaching you how to create your business and programs for how to scale to zillion dollar months. But there’s nothing for the mom entrepreneurs who have been in the game, head down and making money, who are now out of time, space and energy. There’s no programs that teach you what and how to change the things in your business to move from manager to CEO. So, because we’ve achieved what society defines as successful we don’t need support? This doesn’t make sense. Mothers everywhere are drowning in the same businesses they created to have more time with their families. And you probably thought that when you hit multi-6, or 7+ figures in revenue it would get easier right? But problems don’t disappear when you have a profitable business. They change shape. When my private clients come to me with successful businesses… the problem isn’t leads or money. It’s that they are barely holding on, stretched thin, knowing they can’t sustain the way they are running the business but not knowing another way to sustain the business… Without the right support, they keep doing what they have always done to figure it all out, destroying their relationships and health, losing sleep at night, constantly spinning from one responsibility to another. So, I created a privately led business program for established entrepreneur moms to teach them the skills, tools and changes they need to make to reduce stress, run their business like a CEO and step off the hamster wheel. The Mom Founders Inner Circle is for established entrepreneurial moms who are craving freedom, flexibility and space to think… and breathe. This exclusive program will teach you how to correctly organize and lead your business so you can implement your big visions to scale, without the constant overwhelming. And the added bonus of being in MFIC… You get to grow your network by being in community with other established moms in business who get it. Plus a 3-night retreat that will transform your life and business forever. 🎉 The waitlist is OPEN and you get $6000 off when you join — to learn more about the program comment ‘WAITLIST’ ⬇️
