In 2011, I embarked on a journey to find my true calling amidst the beauty of the great outdoors. Leaving behind the familiar, I ventured to Wales for a fast-track instructor course, braving the cold for four exhilarating winter months. Some might say it was a leap of faith. Returning to Harrogate full of passion but lacking experience, I found my footing at the Harrogate Climbing Centre, initially as a volunteer. It was a playground of learning, evolving into a paid instructor role and eventually, a duty manager position. Along the way, fate introduced me to my now partner in crime, Dan Miller who was also a duty manager at the time. Our shared love for adventure propelled us to the Austrian Mountains for a winter climbing trip, planting the seed for what would become Live For Today. Fast forward 12 years, and we’ve now returned full circle by acquiring the very wall where it all started. The past six months have been a whirlwind of challenges and triumphs. From negotiating prices to navigating funding sources and legal intricacies, every obstacle has tested me to my almost limit. Amidst the hustle, there's an undeniable thrill as we welcome new team members and set our sights on propelling this business to new heights. As the saying goes, nothing worthwhile comes easy. But each hurdle cleared has only strengthened our entrepreneurial spirit. Embracing calculated risks over random chances, we've learned invaluable lessons along the way. Who knew that when Alex Cooper says she has the ”HOTs" for you it doesn’t mean she wants to go for a drink! 😂 Our latest venture aligns seamlessly with our vision—to firmly establish Live For Today as a cornerstone of adventure in the Harrogate and Yorkshire district. We envision a vibrant community, spanning all ages, united by the joys of exploration and the rewards of accomplishment. With a dedicated team of 40, we're poised to make waves. Was it hard work?
