The summer solstice is the day with the most light – The Longest Day. Today, people from around the world are raising awareness for the dark fight against Alzheimer’s disease, a type of dementia that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. For the first time, we have promising treatments that may improve the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. However, this is just the first step forward. Much research is still needed to treat the disease at any stage. Click the link below to learn how you can help raise awareness for the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association®. https://lnkd.in/ea6GB2pP

Director, Healthcare Services | Q3 Healthcare Consulting, a Division of Saltmarsh, Cleaveland and Gund P.A.
Come join us on October 19th in Tampa! Did you know? Alzheimer's disease affects millions of people worldwide, with an estimated 6.7 million Americans aged 65 and older living with the disease in 2023. Globally, the number is even more staggering, with over 55 million people affected by dementia, and Alzheimer’s is the most common cause. This condition not only impacts those diagnosed but also their families, caregivers, and communities, creating significant emotional, financial, and social challenges. As the aging population grows, the number of people affected by Alzheimer's is expected to increase dramatically, highlighting the urgent need for ongoing research, support, and awareness. That's why our team is joining the fight! #EndAlz #SupportAlzheimersResearch #HopeForACure #AlzheimersAwareness

Walking for a Cause: #Alzheimer’s Memory Walk Today, my Daughter and I participated in the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk, an event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for a disease that gradually takes away a person’s memories and identity. Alzheimer’s is a cruel condition, not just for those who suffer from it, but also for their loved ones who witness the gradual loss of the person they once knew. Walking alongside so many others who share the same goal was an incredibly moving experience. The sense of community and shared purpose was palpable. We walked not just for those who are currently battling Alzheimer’s, but also for future generations, in the hope that one day, we can find a cure. Being part of this event made me realise the importance of coming together to support such causes. Every step we took was a step towards a future where everyone has the right to #remembertomorrow. It felt great to contribute to making a difference, no matter how small it might seem. If you ever get the chance to participate in an event like this, I highly encourage you to do so. It’s a powerful reminder of the strength we have when we come together, and the impact we can make in the fight against Alzheimer’s. Let’s continue to support research, spread awareness, and stand by those affected by this devastating disease. Together, we can make a difference. #alzheimers #community #timeforchange #memories

Some really strong storytelling from charities in video at the moment. This from the Alzheimer's Society is moving, poignant and very true to life. Grab some tissues, settle in and give yourself some quiet time afterwards to absorb "The Long Goodbye". Keep positive people. 🤗 https://lnkd.in/gQXYbEzX #alzheimers #thelonggoodbye

At 48 years old, I heard the words, "Troy, you have Young-Onset Parkinson's Disease." This life-altering diagnosis put my beliefs to the ultimate test, but I knew I had to incorporate my personal stories of Parkinson’s into my public speaking. And I did. On July 12, 2017, after over 18 months of debilitating symptoms, I finally had an answer: Parkinson’s. Over the next few years, I found ways to build my Parkinson’s community and became active in organizations that support those with chronic health conditions, including serving on the Parkinson’s Foundation Heartland Chapter board. As a public speaker, I draw inspiration from my journey and the stories of others to inspire my audiences. Here’s my advice for those new to Parkinson’s: - There is no one path: Make decisions best for you and your support network. - Educate yourself: Learn about your symptoms and gather information for wise treatment decisions. - Find the right care team: Align with a team that meets your evolving needs. - Turn to the Parkinson’s Foundation: Their resources keep you informed and hopeful. Now, as a Parkinson’s Champion, I’m hosting my first fundraiser. On June 8, I will compete in the 6 in 6 Challenge, participating in six track and field events within six hours. This challenge honors the 60 people who will be diagnosed with Parkinson's during that time. Running has always been my passion, and I am honored to take on this challenge for those who can't. https://loom.ly/InhCt50 #ParkinsonsAwareness #Inspiration #PublicSpeaking #NeverGiveUp #6in6Challenge #TroyCook
