3 Rules of Vacation Stories: 1) No one wants to hear about your vacation. 2.) If someone asks to hear about your vacation, they are being polite. 3.) See rule #1. This is from Matthew Dicks, author of the book Storyworthy. (Which I'm really enjoying reading/listening to) My understanding of this is that most vacation stories: - Are just listing the things you did - Talking about how good/bad the food was - Talking about how nice the places were They don't contain any aspects of what makes a good story: - Stakes - Transformation - Moments of change "Most vacation stories are simply a recounting of your vacation at the expense of another person." This is a hilarious take. 😂 I don’t mind hearing about vacations. (As long as I like the person) How about you? Do you agree with this? P.S. Vacations mean different things to different people. I believe the most important aspect, is to determine what you need. Not what someone else tells you. Find what brings you comfort. For me, as a business owner, on top of a change of scenery, family, friends, good food and new experiences, I've also realized what else means vacation for me: ✅ No Clocks ✅ No Check-Ins ✅ No Commitments ✅ No Cell Phone Reminders ✅ No Constant Coordinating of Stuff A space where time is what I make it, thoughts what I prioritize, versus what my schedule says; now that's the real vacation.💯🌴🙌🏾 What's your version of a good vacation?
