Surveys suggest that the American public increasingly agrees with the persistent media narrative that fatal police shootings and use of excessive force are common, and getting worse. Activists and political leaders frequently refer to these fatal incidents and police use of force broadly as “police violence.” In 2021, then-Speaker of the US House of Representatives called “police brutality” an “epidemic.”1 But the facts don’t support those claims. In reality, fatal police shootings and all uses of force are exceedingly rare, very limited, and overwhelmingly justified. We are in East Moline Illinois today teaching human trafficking interdiction to officers from the Quad Cities area of Iowa and Illinois. This type of training is crucial if we are going to move the needle in trafficking as most officers have no training and even fewer have skills based training. If you want to make a change in trafficking then we need to train the police. #training #humantrafficking #police #policetraining #lawenforcement

Was there ever a worse decision than in the introduction of PCC’s? With one photo you can see the negatives of bringing politics into policing. Angela Raynor is under investigation by Greater Manchester Police. One of these people is the mayor who is in charge of Greater Manchester Police who are conducting the investigation. The third is a political reporter who will be covering the investigation by GMP. I’m sure the investigation will be diligent and professional but these optics are dreadful. Keep politics out of policing, get rid of Police Crime Commissioners. #police #lawenforcement #politics
