CANADIAN ARMED FORCES: Are We 'Laggards' in Defence Spending? In advance of the upcoming NATO Summit in Washington DC, there is an increase in pressure from American lawmakers and diplomats for Canada to drastically increase defence spending. No one is saying what Canada should buy in terms of capability. They just demand we spend more. Watch full video here: https://lnkd.in/eFhNHBYp

Recently, the UK government launched a major strategic defence review to overhaul its "hollowed out" armed forces and address key international threats like Russia and China. The review, to be completed in the first half of 2025, will assess the state of British military capabilities, define future requirements, and ensure a "NATO first" approach is central to the country's defence plans. Taiwan Reports Major Chinese Military Activity Post-Election Taiwan's defense ministry reports detecting 18 Chinese air force planes engaged in "joint combat readiness patrols" near Taiwan, marking the first large-scale military activity following the recent Taiwanese election. The move comes after the victory of Lai Ching-te from the ruling Democratic Progressive Party. China, considering Taiwan its territory, has consistently conducted military operations in the region over the past four years. The increased activity underscores tensions, with China often sending warplanes and warships to assert sovereignty claims. The Taiwanese defense ministry vows to strengthen self-defense capabilities in response to regional threats. #Taiwan #China #MilitaryActivity #Defense #Geopolitics

China deployed fighter jets and warships around Taiwan on Monday in military drills aimed at sending a "stern warning" to what Beijing calls "separatist forces" on the self-governed island. These exercises mark China's fourth large-scale drill in two years, as Beijing refuses to rule out force to bring Taiwan under its control. The United States criticized the drills, calling them "unwarranted" and warning of potential escalation. Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te, who has taken a stronger stance on defending Taiwan’s sovereignty compared to his predecessor, has further aggravated Beijing. #ChinaTaiwanTensions #TaiwanSovereignty #BeijingWarGames #USChinaRelations #AsiaPacificTensions #TaiwanPresident #DefendTaiwan #GlobalSecurity #Smartnewspk

This will put America’s warfighting capabilities under the command of a headquarters on Japanese territory for the first time and dispense with the need for U.S. forces in the country to wait for instructions from the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, which is located in Hawaii 3,500 miles away. The move is intended to keep pace with Japan’s efforts to build up its military capabilities, including a new joint military command that Japanese authorities are planning to stand up early next year. And Japan has opted to buy hundreds of Tomahawk cruise missiles from the U.S. that can attack targets on land. The efforts to launch the new U.S. Joint Force Command, as it is dubbed by U.S. officials, remains a work in progress. To establish it, the U.S. military plans to overhaul an existing administrative headquarters at a base near Tokyo named U.S. Forces Japan to enable it to command the approximately 50,000 U.S. troops in the country. Japan’s new command is expected to be located in the basement of its defense ministry. And U.S. officials haven’t said if they plan to establish a joint cell of American and Japanese officers from the two commands who can work side-by-side during a military crisis or to plan exercises, and where such a cell might be located. #pivot #usa #japan #china #Russia

It’s not enough, it’s simple, to build out defense supply chains takes years, it’s not only to build a facility and start production, it’s the calibrations, the technical skill sets, the raw materials access, the energy supply, and most of all #Money 💰. Money will be the key issue for the #European 🇪🇺 nations, as increased #defense spending needs to be sacrifice with something else - most probably social programs and welfare. There is deficit spending too, but deficit spending is already done for few years to balance of the Covid 😷, and Europe still didn’t recover from its sovereign debt crisis. That’s where my thesis is, and I think it follows what Trump is saying, increased defense spending in Europe = leveraging purchases out of America 🇺🇸 with our financing instruments from FMS/FMF to capital markets. Europeans simple don’t have the choice and if they don’t know about it they will soon know it, it’s just hard math 🧮.
“With a war raging nearby and the threat that a second Trump administration could pull the U.S. out of NATO, Europe has ratcheted up military spending. Arms manufacturers are working around-the clock, and new factories are going up to meet demand. But Europe has a long way to go—and tough choices to make—if it aims to reduce its dependence on U.S. military support and face down Russian aggression.” #europe #russia #nato #defense #military #defensespending https://lnkd.in/efkqeUkk
Europe Is Boosting Military Spending. It’s Still Not Enough.

4moWho dares accuse Canada of not spending enough for NATO racket? Canada is wasting money like a drunk sailor on a short leave. Canada pays 400m for each flying garbage bin (F-35) the other NATO countries bought for 100m each.
