Board governance is often overlooked in early-mid stage companies, which can lead to negative consequences for investors and employees. Boards are frequently built on a premise of assembling "like minded" executives to support the business, ie friends of the CEO. Structuring a diverse board with varied experiences, backgrounds, and financial alignment to the business is essential to success. Healthy conflict among Board Members should be encouraged to solve for the challenges of the business, support the Management Leadership team, and meet their fiduciary responsibilities.
