Is it enough to say sorry? How much more are there to apologise for? An #apology is merly the first small step in the right direction. We should continue to move forward by #acknowledging but also with #action. What are the things we should be doing this #nationalsorryday to #reconcile and #heal from the past? I’d love to hear your thoughts! #nationalsorryday #stolengeneration #humanrights #reconciliation #healingtogether
The 13th of February marks the date the official apology was made for past government policies that resulted in the forced removal of Indigenous children from their families. These children are known as the Stolen Generations. National Sorry Day acknowledges the strength of the survivors and offers a time for reflection, on how we can all play a role in the healing process for Aboriginal people and our Nation. You can play a part in the healing journey by joining us in remembering and acknowledging the strength of the Stolen Generations.

As we gather to honor Memorial Day, we remember not only those who have served and sacrificed for our country but also the ongoing journey toward healing and justice within our communities. 💛This day serves as a poignant reminder of the cost of war and the importance of nurturing a society that reflects the values we stand for—equality, respect, and dignity for all. ⚖️ In remembering the past, we acknowledge the wounds of social injustices that continue to impact many in our society. Today, we recommit to healing these wounds through education, understanding, and empathy. By fostering environments where healing leads to growth, we strengthen our communities and create a foundation for sustainable peace and prosperity. ☮️ 🕊️ Together, we can transform our collective suffering into a source of strength. United in our diversity and driven by our common goals, we support each other to build a future where everyone enjoys a better quality of life. Let us use this day to reflect on our shared values and reinvigorate our efforts to move forward as one. 🌱 🤲 On this Memorial Day, let us pledge to remember, to heal, and to unite. Together, we build the pillars of a resilient community that honors the sacrifices of the past by crafting a just and hopeful future. 🌟

Wishing everyone a safe and joyful Independence Day! On this Fourth of July, let's embrace the opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the principles that make America the land of the free and the home of the brave. As we celebrate Independence Day, it's important to prioritize safety amidst the festivities: 1) Ensure fireworks are handled by responsible adults, keeping them away from children and flammable materials. 2) Opt for attending professional firework displays instead of using personal fireworks, minimizing risks of accidents and injuries. 3) If grilling, maintain a safe distance from flammable items and always supervise the grill. 4) Stay hydrated and apply sunscreen throughout the day to protect against sunburn. 5) If traveling, designate a sober driver or use rideshare services to ensure everyone gets home safely. By following these precautions, we can all enjoy a safe and memorable Fourth of July celebration. #happyfourthofjuly

A Special Message on this July 4th from AHC President, Julie Broadway: Birthdays, after a certain age, are less about the cake and candles and more about assessment and reflection. Accomplishments and disappointments are examined, hopefully pointing a path forward toward more of the former and less of the latter. You might find this a rather somber open to an essay on the occasion of our common birthday – Independence Day. Be assured there is much to celebrate. There will be parades all across the nation. In many instances, the celebrations will be led and attended by a faithful, brave, and spirited four-legged partner: the horse. It is on this point that we would like to reflect upon this year. Over the course of 248 birthdays, from George Washington’s horse Nelson riding fearlessly into Revolutionary war battles to providing honors to the fallen at Arlington Cemetery, horses have been woven into this country’s history. Horses have tilled our land for food and provided transport from everything from postal services to operational partners in times of war. As the nation evolved so did the role of the horse. The transition from physical labor — using horsepower to leisure activities — marked a significant shift in our relationship with these magnificent creatures. Consequently, the discussion around them has shifted from what horses need to do to support the rider or the spectator to what we need to do to support the horse.
