‘Milos Raonic hits record 47 aces as Cameron Norrie makes early Queen’s exit’ (Evening Standard newspaper) I would have been very frustrated & bored, if I had paid to be at Queen’s for that match………! Imagine, if I was to organise a business event, charge you a lot of money for the privilege of getting in and then fleece you for drinks and food – would you attend? You might if the content & the experience were memorable. Time to put the paying spectator at the centre of this experience. So let's make tennis a better spectator sport. Try a single serve game. First serve doesn’t go in, its point over and move on to the next point. This would speed up the game considerably and make it a lot more attractive to watch. What about reducing the number of sets from five to three for the grand slams? Same logic. I play tennis, but I don’t want to sit and watch two players slog it out for up to five hours. Its boring. What do you think? #Businessowners #Womeninbusiness #Entertainment

Croke park v Lansdowne road…? Like Irish unity there’s a thought you’d think might never happen. However, money always talks. It could solve a lot of problems- 1. Athmosphere “Compared with the regular Six Nations crowd, the World Cup attendees were younger and more boisterous, drawn from across the spectrum of sports. When it comes to spring, many of those supporters find themselves locked out by the model that sees the union distribute their tickets through the clubs, who often bundle at least some of them and sell them to corporate entities and travel companies. The income they generate funds the sport at a local level, but an additional capacity would allow the union to investigate ways to tap into the latent interest from the World Cup” Enjoyment- It will stop the boozers in the stands destroying the enjoyment of the others. Far more can attend. Money- It would generate a lot more, and perish the thought, the IRFU might even reduce prices to encourage real fans. So how about leaving the RDS and Lansdowne road? Allow Leinster use it. The GAA use it. More Concerts. As the IRFU don’t really care about their Patrons once they get their money that won’t be an issue. They side step a changing culture towards boozing.

Your favourite teams playing under the roof at New Zealand's premier stadium! Venues Ōtautahi Chief Executive Caroline Harvie-Teare says a wide variety of sports teams are enthusiastically waiting for their opportunity to play at New Zealand's premier stadium. “For a sports-mad province like Canterbury, it is exciting to look ahead to some of the top tier sporting events we will be able to attract. In fact, the prospect of this stadium opening in 2026 has already led to a deals with the One NZ Warriors and Wellington Phoenix committed to play home games in Christchurch over the coming years, and prompted talk of potential South Island NRL and A-League football teams in the future." Irish Rugby.. Watching the Glasgow Warriors last night and this article it raised some questions and the need for some home truths- “Irish rugby has everything in place to be the most aligned rugby system in the world, yet there are clear signs that it’s been sorely lacking over the past four-year cycle and a lack of depth in key positions was obvious in Paris last October“ There are then questions around the IRFU’s crude commercialisation of the game alienating long standing supporters. Over hyping. Terrible athmosphere. It’s attitude to a range of issues from alcohol, concussion, gender and human rights. Does Irish rugby really challenge under performance on and off the field which should come with its new found commercialisation or is it still an old boys club albeit one the Irish tax payer subsidies? It’s true there’s excessive demand on tired players and poorer rugby but the golden period we have enjoyed in recent years may not last without the type of serious self reflection which preceded the professional era and which the IRFU is to be applauded for. Rugby is about more than money. Glasgow’s victory, a team with far less investment and hype than Leinster, really brought this out.
