In honor of #PrideMonth, our Scoular offices have been filled with activities to celebrate and educate our teams. Throughout June in Minneapolis we've: · Indulged in delicious rainbow cookies from local shop #DorothyAnnBakery · Welcomed The Aliveness Project™ for a Pride Picnic (that was moved indoors due to the nonstop rain) to learn about their organization and made a donation to help their mission to feed, house, and provide medical and preventative care to the HIV/AIDs community. · Organized a service activity at Second Harvest Heartland to pack bulk food into smaller portions to be redistributed to organizations in need and help fight hunger. · Hosted an open panel discussion with members from our Employee Resource Groups, Scoular Proud Ally Network (SPAN) and Scoular Women Influencing Culture (SWIC), to discuss #Allyship and its importance to building an #InclusiveWorkplace. At Scoular, we believe inclusiveness is about all employees feeling a sense of belonging that encourages them to bring their uniqueness to the group. True inclusion means all employees feel comfortable being their full self at work and feel that their differences are not only accepted but also celebrated.

Today is International Women’s Day, a day of celebrating the achievements and contributions of women, that has been observed for more than 100 years (since 1909 in the U.S.). It is a day when women are honored and women’s rights are promoted without regard to national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, or political divisions. We also recognize the enormous obstacles women face — from structural injustices, marginalization, and violence, to cascading crises that affect them first and worst, to the denial of their personal autonomy and rights over their bodies and lives. Gender-based discrimination harms everyone, and International Women’s Day is a call to action. Action to stand with women who are demanding their fundamental rights at great personal cost. Action to strengthen protection against sexual exploitation and abuse. And action to accelerate women’s full participation and leadership. Happy International Women’s Day from Trilogy! #internationalwomensday #internationalwomensday2024 #mentalwellness #mentalhealth #mentalhealthcare #breakingdownwalls #chicago #southside #chatham #togetherwecan #donate

All over the world, #LBTQI activism is growing fast and hard. These vibrant activists and groups are intensely committed to their work, despite having very little money and facing harshly repressive circumstances. To improve the lives of #LBTQI women, #girls , #intersex and non-binary people, they organize across diverse movements and advance multiple social justice causes. Yet, they are #underfunded and understaffed, because funders consistently fail to #resource their long-term vision for structural, intersectional change. Mama Cash’s Vibrant Yet Under-Resourced”-report offers effective recommendations to donors on how to provide more and better-quality funding to LBTQI-led women and non-binary organisations. In honor of #IDAHOBIT, we urge all governments, philanthropic institutions and other donors, to re-asses their funding practices and integrate these recommendations. https://lnkd.in/dwAZBJRW

Happy Pride Month, everyone! 🌈 As we celebrate love, equality, and diversity during June, let's remember that food insecurity disproportionately impacts the 2SLGBTQ+ community, especially in Oklahoma. Many 2SLGBTQ+ individuals experience unjust challenges, such as disproportionate rates of poverty, discrimination, and restricted access to resources. Here are a few ways we can make a difference: 1️⃣ Support local 2SLGBTQ+ organizations in Oklahoma that work towards ending food insecurity. They provide resources like food pantries and meal programs. 2️⃣ Donate non-perishable food items, toiletries, or funds to 2SLGBTQ+ community centers or shelters in your area. 3️⃣ Educate yourself and others about the inequities that the 2SLGBTQ+ community experiences in Oklahoma and across the country. By understanding the challenges, we can better advocate for more inclusive policies. Every small act of kindness and support makes a difference. Let’s work to create a world where everyone has equitable access to food and an opportunity to thrive. #PrideMonth #FoodInsecurity #Equality #EndHungerInOK #Allyship #2SLGBTQ

Good things happening at THE JPB FOUNDATION, including increasing their giving by 20%. Foundations are required to pay out 5% of their assets; JPB will pay out 12%. “Philanthropy needs to be part of the chorus of voices that are speaking up for how essential multiracial democracy and its institutions and practices are,” Bhargava said. ... ""JPB’s focus will be on supporting groups that increase the political sway of people of color, LGBTQ people, and workers; fighting online misinformation; and making grants to faith-based institutions and other groups that work to get people with different backgrounds and beliefs to find common ground." ... It’s International Women’s day today and the theme this year is inspire inclusion. There are many women whom I admire and owe gratitude to both inside and outside of work, peers, reports, leaders, relatives and friends. Too many to name for one post so instead I’m going to take the opportunity to share some thoughts on why we still need international women’s day in hopes that it inspires more inclusion and participation through increasing awareness. According to the World Economic Forum global gender report which benchmarks the current state of gender parity on 4 key dimensions- economic participation, political empowerment, health and survival and educational attainment, at current rate of progression we are 131 years from achieving gender parity. This assumes no setbacks like the ones we experienced in the pandemic. Read that again and take a moment to think what it means to be less likely to survive, have good health, be able to go to school, vote, and work simply because of your gender. These are still real issues all around the world in all countries represented in this report. What can you do to help change things? - Educate yourself around how bias shows up in all walks of life and how it impacts others around you - Take action - donate to women’s charitable causes to drive change in areas where inequity is present. I chose to donate today to Wellbeing of Women a charity dedicated to female health research given the stat that only 2% of medical research budgets are spent on women’s health 🤯 - Be an Ally and lift others up as you climb. We can’t get to parity on our own and the world will be better for it. - Educate your kids since they will be the generation who could and should see it happen in their lifetime if we accelerate progress #iwd24 #inspireinclusion https://lnkd.in/eHnapjyT

Today we celebrate International Women's Day. Though this is not a gender equal world; we truly believe that one day it can be. Today and every day, by raising awareness about discrimination, taking action to drive gender parity and celebrating women’s achievements, we can forge women’s equity, together. Support women-owned businesses: Women-owned businesses account for a relatively small share of all businesses in Canada. They may be in the minority, but they are mighty. Support your favorite woman-owned business: use their services, shop at their store or eat at their restaurant. Support your favorite women’s issues charity: Everyone deserves to live free of oppressions, such as violence, poverty and homelessness. Women* disproportionately face these barriers. Many of our clients work in this space. Find out how you can support their efforts. Please also remember to support organizations who affirm the inclusion of trans women and non-binary people in their vision of who they serve and support.

My theme for OutSummit this year - and for Outright International and our partners every day - is Manifesting Abundance. I could not be more alarmed by the gaps and disparities in funding for our global LGBTIQ movement. Yet I could not be more inspired by the dedication of queer advocates and activists around the world and the progress they/we are making. As LGBTIQ people and allies, I believe we are called to stand up to the increasingly dangerous attacks harming our community and attempting to roll back our rights. And I *know* there is a tremendous opportunity to radically accelerate social and legal change for LGBTIQ people across the planet. But don't take it from me - listen to these wise reflections from our incredible OutSummit panel "Increasing Our Impact: How Funders Can Help Radically Accelerate the Global LGBTIQ Movement." This was our third year featuring experts discussing trends in philanthropy for global queer causes. You can also listen to the full session here: https://lnkd.in/gyjnp9qm. Manifest Abundance with us! Ezra Berkley Nepon: "The good news is year over year, funding for LGBTIQ causes has increased. But globally the movement is completely underfunded and 57% of the overall funding goes to the U.S., while we face a seriously resourced opposition. We need human rights funders and funders more broadly to understand the connections and be with us in this work." Jay Gilliam: "Why do we (USAID) do this work? The President has a priority on ensuring LGBTIQ inclusion in our work. In addition, we get better development outcomes when we include and lift up LGBTIQ people. Democracies are stronger when we include LGBTIQ people." Rebecca Fox: "It's important to provide funding to emerging groups but also to allow activists and programs to come together to support and learn from each other. Our orgs aren't just doing advocacy, they also provide essential services, often with a lack of safety for themselves." Michael Heflin (he, him): "We are committed to making sure more resources are mobilized to parts of our movement that need more attention and support. The consequences if we don't respond are dire for LGBTIQ people. At the same time, there are lots of opportunities to make progress. Activists know how to defend their rights if they get the resources they need."
