The New G.O.A.T Landscaping Method Everyday, we see new emergent strategies in environmental conservation, sustainable business development and eco-friendly alternatives for recurring operations and maintenance. One such strategy, is the very viral, conversation starting 'Grass cutting' service that is being offered by many SMEs across the west. We at Mercuro wanted to highlight this story as we believe it sits perfectly at the intersection between ingenuity, engagement, and productivity. Although to some it may seem like a lack-luster, or low impact form of conservation; it also shows how small, creative changes in approach can create one of a kind, attention grabbing initiatives that can bring attention to your business or sustainable business plan for low cost and low impact. A bit more from the CBC article on a Toronto Companies dive into the space: "Currently exploring new tools to manage invasive plants, the City of Toronto is deploying a herd of goats to Don Valley Brick Works Park for two days of prescribed grazing — an eco-friendly alternative to mowing or herbicides. It's a method that's already been used to manage invasive plants in Calgary and Fort Erie, Ont., parks, on school campuses and near railway tracks, pipeline corridors, hydro pump stations and ski hills. They have also been used as a wildfire mitigation tool to eat the buildup of fuels, and studies have even explored "rent-a-goat" programs." We're excited to see more symbiotic, ecosystem focused services like these in the future.

You too can make a tiny contribution to reversing ecological devastation by cultivating an “ugly lawn”. And if we all do it, it’ll be a big contribution. This is what adaptation looks like, folks. Another way is by rewilding your lawn: https://lnkd.in/eBd8pVmR "Today one in four UK front gardens are completely paved over and nearly one in three front gardens has no plants." As April's warmth coaxes the earth back to life, I'm reminded of the delicate balance our planet thrives on—a balance that we at Johnson Controls strive to protect and nurture. This month, as Earth Day approaches, I’m drawn not only to our corporate mission but also to a personal passion of mine: gardening. Gardening, for me, is more than just a hobby. It’s a small but profound way of connecting with nature, understanding the cycles of growth and renewal, and witnessing firsthand the impact of nurturing care on the environment. Each seed planted is a commitment to a greener, more sustainable future—a principle that guides our work at Johnson Controls. Our commitment to sustainability is evident in every project we undertake, from developing energy-efficient building solutions to pioneering technologies that reduce environmental footprints. The principles of gardening—patience, care, and a deep-rooted belief in growth—mirror our approach to sustainability. Just as each plant in my garden requires attention and the right conditions to flourish, every initiative we embark on is designed to promote a healthier planet. This Earth Day, let's embrace the lessons from our gardens: the importance of care, the value of sustainability, and the impact of individual actions on our collective future. Whether through corporate initiatives at Johnson Controls or personal endeavors in our gardens, we have the power to cultivate a greener, more sustainable world. As we celebrate this Earth Day, I encourage you to join us in planting seeds for a sustainable future—both literally and metaphorically. Together, we can nurture our planet back to health, ensuring a vibrant, flourishing world for generations to come. #EarthDay #Sustainability #GardeningForThePlanet #JohnsonControls #GreenThumbLeaders #wearejci
