Great article from Manufacturing Drive about how manufacturers can fight to decrease the talent gap in the industry. It's going to take collaboration between manufacturers, schools, community organizations and everyone in the communities they serve to fight the problem.

This article makes for an interesting read. I agree with all these points and have seen it all firsthand. Another aspect of this could be the adoption of modern technology for the production floor. When implemented correctly many automation and manufacturing software systems running in these facilities can be key to attracting and retaining the up-and-coming manufacturing workforce.

Manufacturing could be short 1.9M workers if the talent gap isn’t fixed Companies need millions of workers in production and tech roles, a Deloitte and Manufacturing Institute study says. Experts worry the industry can’t keep up. "The industry, aided by both massive private and public investments, has seen huge gains in employment and capital spending on new projects in the last five years...And yet, the industry is staring down a major obstacle to all that growth — labor." #manufacturing #jobs #talent

Thanks Dean Bartles for sharing and Josh Cramer for the article. In addition to the Deloitte study which highlights the growing #manufacturing #workforce shortage. According to a World Economic Forum report, 50% of existing workers will need to be up skilled to do the same job they do today. That’s 7 million manufacturing workers needing to be up skilled in the next decade! MxD, America Makes, and the other Manufacturing USA institutes are helping to new-, up-, and re-skill our workforce to meet industy’s current and future needs.
The manufacturing industry is still feeling the effects of the pandemic. Additionally, we have a worker shortage that hasn't eased. To tackle this, I think we need to offer more workforce training programs to upskill workers and train recent graduates. Collaboration will be necessary on all levels. #Manufacturing #WorkerShortage #Workforce
