Why Kaiser Permanente Failed to Expand in the Past... Is This Time with Geisinger Different? With the 2023 Kaiser Acquisition of the Geisinger Health System in Pennsylvania and It's New Risant Health Organization Set to Acquire More Hospitals... It Begs the Question: "If Kaiser is So #Great, Why Is It Not in More Places in America Already?" Kaiser Tried--and Failed--to Expand to #Texas, #NorthCarolina, #NewYork and #NewEngland in the 1980s and 1990s. Kaiser Was Unsuccessful Because: 1) Kaiser did not have the local, large #CriticalMass of members from a #Union or #Government Employees that is necessary to fund the doctors, clinics and hospitals in the early days of operations. 2) The local #doctor and #hospital communities were adversarial to the vertically integrated, #HMO model of care. That was 30 years ago. Will Kaiser be more successful today? #Watch More #Healthcare Finance Videos on AHealthcareZ YouTube Channel.

Spreading the positives! The proof is in the numbers. Empowering teams to make knowledge based decisions led to making a meaningful impact in their communities. This is key to driving productivity. VA listened and understood the importance of “tailoring strategies for each site of care based on the unique needs” of their #1 stakeholders ….the Veterans they serve. Shereef Elnahal Let’s not forget to mention the residual gains: * Increased relevance and efficiency * Heightened employee engagement and innovation * Enhanced customer satisfaction #Productivity #TailoredStrategies #MilitaryHeathcare #Veterans #HRO #PatientSatisfaction #Solutions #CommunityImpact #Leadership #EmployeeEngagement
VA ACCESS SPRINTS HAVE IMPROVED VETERAN WAIT TIMES IN PRIMARY CARE AND MENTAL HEALTH ACROSS THE NATION Veterans have earned the highest quality care that America has to offer— and they deserve swift access to apppintments, too. That’s why U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs recently undertook an effort called the Access Sprints. Every VA clinic and medical center undertook an effort to see more Veterans over the span of several months than they ever have before— by fitting more Veterans into daily schedules, offering night and weekend clinics, delivering timely appointments through telehealth, and more. Each one of our sites of care had its own strategy— tailored to what Veterans in their communities needed the most. The results: 11% more new patient appointments delivered across primary care, mental health, and specialty care; 12% fewer Veterans waiting for care that exceeded our wait time standards; and 14% fewer Veterans waiting in line for community care appointments across the country. And the best outcome of all— compared to this time last year, average wait times for new patient appointments in primary care have dropped by 12%, and average wait times for mental health appointments have dropped by 4%. As the PACT Act boosted new Veteran enrollment over 30% higher than last year, these outcomes are even more impressive: our clinicians are meeting and exceeding access objectives, even as more Veterans demand care from us as we have expanded healthcare eligibility. To our care teams across the nation, and most of all, to the Veterans we have the honor of caring for: THANK YOU.

Need a podcast to kickstart your week? In this interview, Chair of Privia Women’s Health and President of Virginia Women’s Center, Keith Berkle, MD, MBA, discusses payer contracting, challenges within private practices, industry competition, and more! "In private practice, we’re able to focus on what we believe is really important to drive equity and savings to make our patients’ healthcare dollars go further. We can holistically develop our business plan, model, schedules, and compensation structure so that we have happy doctors and well-cared-for patients. And I’m not sure that my colleagues in the health systems have that degree of control over their day-to-day," Keith said. Listen here: https://lnkd.in/ezN3v9rS #priviahealth #priviaproud

Shrinking Medicare payments. Rising supply costs. Workforce shortages. It’s become increasingly difficult for cardiologists to stay in private practice, opening the door to circling private equity firms. Amid those trends, this year’s American College of Cardiology meeting, wrapping up today in Atlanta, placed the business environment front and center. Two of the five keynotes focused on the topic, with Gerald Blackwell and Karen Joynt Maddox both addressing the larger practice landscape. As #ACC24 comes to a close, I thought I’d pose the question to our #healthcareonLinkedIn community: What do you think are the biggest challenges facing the cardiology profession? And how will those trends shape the workforce? Tagging in Douglas Drachman, Jasen Gundersen MD, MBA, Cathie Biga, Ritu Thamman MD FASE FACC, John Dodson, Ami Bhatt, MD, Kevin Mair, MBA, CMPE, FACHE, Joel Porter and Jana M. Goldberg, MD, FACC for their perspective as well.

Across the board, physicians are focused on these issues. 👇🏽 There will be more banding of independent practices to offset decades of consolidation due to a failure to enforce the corporate practice of medicine. From SMBs to MSOs to large ACOs and IPAs.
