My latest project features a modern, minimalist row of townhouses. The façade is characterized by clean lines and geometric shapes, with each unit having a boxy, cubic extension that serves as a balcony. The use of monochromatic colors and sharp angles gives the building a sleek and contemporary look. The layout is a combination of open and private spaces. The ground level includes parking spots directly in front of each unit, with a raised entry porch and stairs. The upper floors have large windows that bring in ample natural light to the living areas enhancing the feeling of spaciousness. British designer Tom Dixon has partnered with Greek studio A31 Architecture to create Aimasia Residence, a villa in Mykonos that revolves around an existing stone wall. A 62-meter-long granite wall serves as the "spine" of the home’s layout, influencing the choice of materials throughout the space. Large rocks are suspended above two staircases on the ground floor, adding a dramatic element. By dusk, as the lights slowly start to appear at the exterior and emerge out from the interior, the space captures a brand-new melody. 1. Brighter lights in the parking space and driveway for way finding. 2. Low-intensity lights on the steps to guide the visitors but not overwhelm them, the lights right above the bar at the entrance space, focused to create drama. 3. Some lights penetrating from inside on the side walls, soft and mellow, crafting masterpieces, all these takes the visitors to a different level of experience. 4. A hanging light layout on the first floor in the Biergarten invites one to a party. 5. Just inside in the small room, you may gaze at the city lights from the same frame you would be viewing the landscape during the day. 6. Before and After - Grade II Listed Contemporary Extension Our brief was clear: introduce a contemporary extension that complements the historical charm of the existing structure while resolving the challenges posed by its original layout. The kitchen, previously limited by a courtyard configuration and small windows, suffered from restricted natural light and poor spatial flow. To revitalise the space, we incorporated full-height sliding doors and frameless roof glazing, allowing an abundance of daylight to flood the interior. Meticulous detailing ensured that the new design harmoniously integrates with the home’s heritage while creating an open-plan kitchen that connects seamlessly to the garden.
