The Experiences of U.S. Adults Who Don’t Have Children Among adults aged 50 and above who don't have kids, a major reason they didn't have children is that they didn't find the right partner (33% vs. 24% of those in the younger group). There are no significant differences between the two groups in shares pointing to infertility or other medical reasons (their own or their spouse's or partner's) or to a spouse or partner who didn't want to have children as major reasons. A majority of adults aged 50 and above without kids see some benefits to not having children, such as easier time for hobbies, affording things they want, saving for the future, being successful in their job or career, and having an active social life. The younger group is more likely than those aged 50 and above to say each of these has been easier due to not having children. Older women without kids have higher median monthly wages than mothers, while older men without kids tend to earn less than fathers. https://ift.tt/VdgUn4c #news #cto #tech

Relationships and caregiving among adults without children A majority of U.S. adults ages 50 and older who don’t have children say not having kids hasn’t had much of an impact on their personal relationships. Among adults under 50 who say they are unlikely to have children, majorities rarely talk about having kids with family or friends. Among adults ages 50 and older, large shares say not having children has had neither a positive nor a negative impact on their relationships with their spouse or partner (64%), friends who have children (73%), parents (75%), and siblings (77%). About a quarter of married or partnered adults without children (24%) say not having kids has had a positive impact on their relationship with their spouse or partner.
