Marketing Manager & "LinkedInfluencer"? - Talking all things Tech, Cyber, Disney & Local Community - #DoncasterIsGreat
LIVE LONG AND PROSPER 🖖 FIRST CONTACT DAY I didn’t used to be a big Star Trek fan (more Star Wars and Stargate), but in recent years I have begun to get in to Discovery, Picard & Strange New Worlds, and by extension have begun to watch many of the previous series. Did you know, that in #StarTrek history, April 5th is considered to be “First Contact Day”? This is based on the fictional history that on April 5th 2063 Zefram Cochrane first took a flight at speeds in excess of “Warp 1” in his prototype craft the “Phoenix”, which by extension revealed to the Vulcans that Earth had reached the right technological level to be introduced to the interstellar community allowed them to initiate first contact. This was actually depicted in the film “Star Trek: First Contact” as part of a really interesting time travel story. Now, I am not one to hide that I am a massive geek and love all things Sci-Fi so I thought it only right that I celebrate today with my own Vulcan salute. 🖖 If you would like to catch up on the Star Trek franchise or even just watch “First Contact”, the entire series can be found on Paramount+. Maybe I should have gotten a Star Trek themed Cap for this post? I am sure that they probably make them! Live Long & Prosper everyone! 😁 #FirstContactDay #FirstContact #LiveLongAndProsper #Geek #GeekCulture #SciFi #ScienceFiction Paramount , Paramount Pictures Side Note for Fan: Discovery is back on Paramount+ for its 5th and Final season.

This weekend, I watched a movie based on a true story... that inspired me on many levels to focus on a big dream or goal. To have tenacity and resilience. To develop the right skills that are needed To never give up. The movie is showing on Amazon Prime: A Million Miles Away. When Jose Hernandez was growing up, his family stayed half the year in Mexico and the other half in America. They were migrant farm workers. This would mean he would often miss school despite being a bright boy. A teacher asked him for an assignment to write or draw: What do you want to be when you grow up, and he drew a picture of a spacecraft in the shape of a mealie plant! Our teachers can often inspire us to think further about our goals, dreams, and desires. With the right amount of tenacity and support, Jose Hernandez applied to the space program 11 times before he was chosen for the program in 2004. Often, we see only the tip of the iceberg of someone's success. The moment they get chosen, when they win the award or a big deal. Very rarely do we see the 30 years prior, the support they had, the sacrifices they and their family had to make, and the preparation they had to put in place to reach that level of success. What is your big goal, dream, or desire? Does every decision you make a move you toward that goal? https://lnkd.in/dHJgdicM #motivation #leadership #goals #vision

Superhero movies used to be the highlight of popular culture, but lately, there's been a change. These once-super-powered films are not performing well at the box office anymore, and are struggling to captivate audiences. Sony's Madame Web is just the latest flop, and it seems the era of superhero fatigue is upon us. Here's my report on why nobody cares about superheroes anymore - and how studios could turn things around. #superheroes #marvelstudios #dccomics #marveluniverse #madameweb #sony https://lnkd.in/dTS82MzK

Awaken Your Inner Superhero: How To Become The Best YOU In The Universe!! There’s good news for all of us non-hero types out there. The Green Lantern puts on a ring for his powers. Spiderman was bitten by a radioactive spider. The Hulk was hit by gamma radiation. In other words, most superheroes were not born superheroes; they became superheroes. We can acquire our superhero qualities too, and we can do it without spider bites, alien rings, or gamma radiation treatments. So we come back to the original question: Which actor in our opening scene do you most often identify with? Which one seems to reflect your character most regularly? Perhaps to some extent, we are each character at different times in our lives and under different circumstances. But the one that most often defines us is telling nonetheless. And it certainly gives us a starting place from which to launch our mission of self-improvement and superhero development. But maybe who we are right now pales in importance to another question: Who do you want to be? I guess that you wish to be the superhero, a person of strength and conviction, of perseverance and commitment, one of character and decency, who makes a difference in life by making a difference in the lives of others. The Superhero Inside I’m convinced that each of us has a superhero waiting to be let loose no matter where we are or who we identify with at this particular moment in our lives. I believe you are a superhero, even if the hero part hasn’t been fully identified or coaxed from its inner lair. True, Thor was born strong. Superman did nothing of himself to develop his strength and powers. But Spiderman had to become strong. And while he was a passive participant in acquiring his powers, we most certainly don’t have to be. There is a superhero inside each of us. It’s our job to discover how to release the powers already there, dormant perhaps, but waiting to be discovered, developed, and unleashed. #superhero #marvel #comics #dccomics #spiderman #dc #superheroes #marvelcomics #batman #superman #avengers #art #comicbooks #hero #cosplay #comic #love #mcu #dcuniverse #ironman #wonderwoman #justiceleague #comicbooks

I came across this song in a Peloton class...and believe it or not, there's a lot we can take away from a somewhat cheesy Tom Cruise cover song video that translates to work. Here's my top 10. Let me know what you take away! 1. Take calculated risks. Tom Cruise certainly doesn't sing in every movie, let along sing and move in a highly choreographed way. 2. Be unexpected. Because he doesn't sing all the time, it's refreshingly unexpected when he does sing. 3. Stretch yourself. This is Tom Cruise. Enough said. 4. Practice, practice, practice. We only see the final performance, but it's undoubtedly the result of hours and hours of work. 5. Continue to learn. Actors must learn for each role...we all can embrace that approach to life every day. 6. Dress for the part when you perform [or interview or present...you get where I'm going here] 7. Read the comments. You'll never make 100% of the people happy 100% of the time. But you can still try. 8. Quality work stands the test of time and is memorable. "Wanted Dead or Alive" was released in 1986. "Rock of Ages" came out in 2012. 9. Share the wealth and the credit. There's a host of seen and unseen teammates that went into just this short clip of a movie. The full cast has more than 250 actors and what's interesting is that there are many that were uncredited in the full movie. Including Derek Hough! Which leads me to... 10. Sometimes you just have to put your head down, do good work, and take the personal pride in knowing that you did great work, even if you don't get any credit. https://lnkd.in/e-QtEdyn
