🤔 What Does the Next Decade Hold for Us in Tech and Innovation? As we navigate through an era of rapid technological advancement, it's essential to pause and ponder: "How will we create, connect, and play in the coming decade?" This question isn't just a thought experiment; it's a crucial inquiry that shapes our future. I'm excited to invite you to the Future Horizons Festival, where this pivotal question will take center stage. We're not just discussing the next big thing in tech; we're envisioning how technology will transform our everyday lives in profound ways. We've lined up a panel of trailblazers who are at the forefront of this evolution: - Konrad Spilva from Shadowboxer, a synonym for innovative thinking in tech. - Andy Lee of Wilder World, who's pushing the boundaries of digital realms. - Nicole Gibson from Love Out Loud, a leader who champions tech with a human touch. This isn't your typical tech discussion. It's an exploration into the future of our interactions, creativity, and leisure. How will emerging technologies redefine our experiences? What new forms of connection and play are on the horizon? Join us for this illuminating discussion that promises to offer new perspectives and insights. 📆 February 2, 2024, at The Third Day, North Melbourne, VIC. 🎟️ Be part of this forward-thinking conversation. Tickets are available now. https://lnkd.in/gjGayGuD #FutureHorizonsFestival #TechFuture #InnovativeThinking #DigitalTransformation #PanelDiscussion #MelbourneTechCommunity Dickie CurrerStephanie HallVicki StirlingDesmond John

I'm often asked my top 5 tips for a successful event, so here you go! 1: Do not have people on stage if they are not doing something. Only bring panellists or chairs up to speak and then find a graceful way to bring them back down! 2: Give people a chance to take it all in! Don't pack too much into your schedule and allow time for breaks and chatting. People need time to process, eat, use the bathroom etc. Sometimes our enthusiasm for the content makes us forget we are dealing with biological humans who have physiological needs! 3: Use as little video as possible and try to use it for dramatic effect rather than to give information. People are at a live event - they want to see real life people talking. 4: Allow panellists at least 10 minutes of time each plus q+a. They've travelled and prepared for this thing - let them make their points! 5: If you are designing an event, speak to a professional MC or events expert *early on* about your programme because once you've started booking things in, it can be often be tricky to walk them back. If you'd like to talk about how to get the most out of your next event, get in touch for a free pre-event consultation at www.whipsmartmedia.com I'll be at the Technology Industry Alliance's annual #TIATechfest tomorrow, (they do all of the above, btw), and it makes it for a really engaging day that's paced just right. Hope to see you tomorrow! https://lnkd.in/dZc9Ngs3

This evening, something new is happening in Berlin. 💫 For quite some time, I have been thinking about communities and how to build a network of people to share knowledge. There are many meetups happening, but they all fail in certain aspects. Bringing 100+ people together doesn’t serve the attendees well enough. You have to go to meetups regularly to meet with others. And that’s also not enough because others must come often, too, so you can see familiar faces. Otherwise, you always have a small talk with someone new and rarely go a step beyond. As I hate small talk, I thought about what I could do. 🤔 Long story short, I am starting to host a Tech Leadership Roundtable Dinner. 🍽️ I’m very excited about it because the first event will be today! I hear you say, "What kind of dinner is this?" Each dinner will consist of 4-6 experienced people from different disciplines like product, engineering management, staff+ engineers, lead of leads, design, data, user research, people partner, and more. I will choose a discussion topic, prepare a few questions, and moderate the discussion during the dinner. Nobody will need to prepare a presentation or listen to someone talking for 30 minutes non-stop. We'll share experiences, brainstorm, and learn how others solve problems. The event and attendee list will not be public, and we’ll meet on a weekday evening somewhere in Berlin for 2-3 hours. Everyone will pay for their dinner. Attendance will be free with one condition: you must make a hard commitment. If you promise but won’t join, you will never get invited again. 🤩 Does that sound interesting to you? Do you want to join the next event? Send me a message here on LinkedIn or email me: candost at candostdagdeviren dot com. Last but not least, you’ll have a chance to nominate someone else after joining the dinner!

Just back from an event and was reminded how lovely it is to spend time with real people. I'm pretty confident there wasn't a single AI avatar in the audience. I think the magic of these events is found in the in-between spaces. While serving as the emcee for one session and joining two breakouts was grand, some of the best interactions happened in line for food, at the bar, joining roundtables, back at the bar, walking to the breakouts, and, uh, again at the bar. That's because I've found over the years that the time we use for small talk often leads to big things. I'm worn out by folks posturing for each other to showcase how much they know or who they know or how they knew something before me. But I'm energized by the people I spent time with this week, who are smart, talented, caring, flawed, and perfect. And they all wanted to know how I was doing and what they could do to help. That's why I work in education, and why I'm such a fan of the Tech & Learning EdExec Summit. So, this is my thank you note to the many folks who were with me at the event, in the line for food, on panels, and at the bar. Too many to tag. But if this post finds its way to you, please accept my thanks for helping me make the most of those in-between spaces. I got to see the real you, and it was just what I needed. Just what we all needed. #education #edtech #leadership #educationindustry #TLTechLive
