According to a recent study less than one-third of workers in tech were female in 2023 even though women represented 48% of the global workforce. #GivingTuesday: Empowering Women in Industry This year’s Giving Tuesday holds special significance for me, as next Thursday, I’ll be attending the long-awaited conference in New Orleans after a three-year gap. This event has always been a place of incredible energy ⚡ and an inspiration for women striving to make a difference in the industry 🌟. Empowering women is not just about creating opportunities 🚀, but also about building communities , sharing knowledge 📚, and ensuring that every woman has the resources and support to thrive in traditionally male-dominated fields . These events are where ideas converge, where voices that were once silent now resonate powerfully 🎤. As I prepare for this conference, I’m reminded of the resilience and strength that women bring to the table ✨, not only in engineering and technical roles but across all sectors. Let's continue supporting each other and creating spaces where we can all rise together 🙌. For this #GivingTuesday, let’s commit to giving more: more support 🤝, more mentorship 🌱, more advocacy 📢. Because when women succeed, entire industries are transformed 🔄. #EmpowerWomen #STEMLeadership #GivingBack #WomenInIndustry #Ingeteam #WomenInWater #WomenInEnergy #WomenInSTEM

As we've explored creating our women's community and facilitating discussions with incredible #women, we realized that much of what we do celebrates the undeniable benefits of community while digging deep into the barriers that stand in the way. We're committed to doing everything we can, individually and collectively, to tear those barriers down. This journey led us to dive into the first pieces of research that focused on bringing women together in meaningful ways. We had to take a hard look at ourselves, as individuals and as an organization, to understand better what we might be up against—despite all the incredible evidence that shows how much women benefit from being in #community. So, where do we go from here? We're asking you to join us. Be part of this exploration, part of the learning, and part of the change. Let's continue breaking down those walls together.

More detail on the program next week: More detail on the luncheon! Thrive Luncheon - Closing the Gap June 6, 2024 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM (EDT) Description Women in the U.S. workforce continue to struggle for equal pay and face challenges advancing in their careers. While women make up nearly half of the workforce, research shows that women continue to earn less than men and struggle for equal representation. “A 20-year-old woman just starting full-time, year-round work stands to lose $407,760 over a 40-year career compared to her male counterpart” (National Women’s Law Center Surprisingly, some of the industries with the largest pay gaps have the greatest share of female workers. Women outnumber men in earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees and are nearly on par in getting medical and legal degrees and still men are more likely than women to get the highest paying leadership roles. The gender pay gap also varies considerably by race and ethnicity, and by other demographics. Join us as the Chamber’s Senior VP of Programs & Initiatives, Celeste Granger, presents an overview of the disparity in pay and leadership opportunities for women in the workforce. Following the presentation, we’ll hear from panelists versed in how we can work to identify the barriers and close the gap.
