Personal Stylist and Co-founder of The Coedit - Helping you to maximise your wardrobe and get clear on your style
I'm really loving these future of shopping articles by Vogue Business and here's why... because they're highlighting something that if you asked anyone on the luxury personal shopping teams I've been a part of, would agree is the KEY to the future of retail... The importance of connection. And honestly the personal shoppers, stylists, retail assistants have known this for a long time, and quite often? We haven't been listened to. But finally it's happening, and before you ask me, it isn't about creating a relationship to leverage sales opportunities, it's about really knowing your customer or client on an authentic and personal level, because that is the game changer. I liken it to a similar dynamic as hair stylist & client or beautician & client, but the retail world has been slow to coming round to this, often offering personal styling as a free or complimentary option, rather than charging it's worth, perhaps not valuing the expertise as we do in other industries (can you imagine a hairdresser not charging for a haircut?!) But I honestly see that changing, in fact for a sustainable fashion future, it has to change. We need to care about our personal style more than ever — to slow down our consumption and to stop placing importance on physical clothing to always be the answer. And so really, for personal stylists and the styling industry? This is just the start... wwww.vicbinns.com article: https://lnkd.in/eR8kDXD2

Most people don’t understand the connection between personal styling and sustainability, but it exists and it’s important. We might not be creating innovative materials, groundbreaking technologies or getting funding for whatever big next thing… and in my opinion, “sustainability” tends to draw out those types of business ideas, those that tend to require lots of capital or technology to get to the masses. Personal stylists create a connection between you, your clothes and how you shop to deeply personal and curated levels. And in this age of speed, apps and ultra-fast shipping, I believe it’s important to bring connection and mindfulness back to the way we think about clothes and get dressed. We might not be creating any new technologies but we are one by one, changing the way consumers shop. In an ever increasing “distanced shopping experience” today’s retail scape presents, styling is now becoming a concept people want back into their shopping experience: personalization, connection, understanding... a real human that can help them make better purchases. Thanks Victoria Binns for putting it so eloquently:

How many of you need a pick-me-up for this #MondayMorning? I'm going to suggest you give #dopaminedressing a try. In the context of personal styling, dopamine dressing refers to the intentional selection of clothing and accessories that evoke positive emotions and boosts mood. The color 🧡orange is intentional. It evokes feelings of energy, enthusiasm and warmth and is suitable for all occasions. Snag a pop of color like orange and wear it today to not only look good but feel vibrant and friendly. #colorpsychology #orange #positivefashion #styletips

New Post: TikTokers Are Calling Target’s $43 Matching Set ‘Really Cute’ for Sunset Photos & Bridal Showers - https://lnkd.in/gNikpkKj - All products and services featured are independently chosen by editors. However, Billboard may receive a commission on orders placed through its retail links, and the retailer may receive certain auditable data for accounting purposes. Matching sets make getting dressed less complicated by eliminating the hassle of mixing tops and bottoms until you get a combination that feels trendy. There’s one matching set from Target though that has TikTok especially gushing over its affordability and stylishness — even earning the label of the No. 1 most-shared item on Target’s top 10 list for June (replacing their coveted denim jumpsuit that held the spot previously). The online retailer has become a go-to destination for style on a budget with more than 7.8 million videos on TikTok made with the hashtag “Target Fashion Finds 2024.” This matching set has TikTokers in a chokehold though as it features a ’90s-inspired design featuring dainty details such as a tiny bow in the center of the skirt paired with small lace accents. User @michaela.delvillar showed off the complete set in a video that has racked up more than 47,000 views. “The waistband is super stretchy, so I would size down if you’re in-between sizes,” the user recommends while pulling on the waistband to show off it’s stretchiness. “I will definitely be wearing this in a sunset photo on the beach somewhere.” @michaela.delvillar I wanted this set in brown but honestly now im so happy i got it in red 🤭 #targetmatchingset #vacationdress #vacationoutfit #vacationoutfits #targetskirtset #targetfinds #targethaul #matchingset #matchingsets @target ♬ original sound – Michaela There are four colors and patterns to pick from: red, brown, yellow, and a blue and white floral pattern. The crop top is only $18, while the maxi skirt is priced at a wallet-friendly $25, making the entire set only $43. And, since it’s made with a linen material, it’s lightweight and breathable to keep you comfortable during especially hot days. Already sizes are selling out, which means you won’t want to wait too long before adding both pieces to your cart. Keep reading to buy the matching set online now. Wild Fable Linen Bow-Front Maxi Skirt Buy Now on target $25 Stay cool this summer without ditching trendiness in this budget-friendly maxi skirt from Target. The design is made with a lightweight material and side zipper closure that’s paired with a mid-rise elastic waistband that rests gently on your skin. The phenomenon of skincare-obsessed tweens frequenting beauty stores has sparked many interesting debates. Setting aside their aging anxiety, I can't help but wonder how young consumers could remain indifferent to the girly, playful, and cute packaging that, in theory, was not designed for children, yet clearly appeals to them. And to us. 💄 Products are getting smaller and playing with the size sounds like a perfect cuteness-driven strategy: “For the Pocket Blush’s launch campaign, Bieber models alongside Paloma Elsesser and Alex Consani. 'We wanted to play with the idea of Pocket Blush: It’s tiny, it’s pocket-size, it’s bite-size. So we wanted to play with size and scale in the campaign. You’ll see really big [packaging] or really tiny [packaging],' Bieber said.” https://lnkd.in/dguXKiVT 🌸 We are living in a girl-economy and apparently girls want everything girly. From Barbie to Bridgerton, pop culture is buzzing with the delivery of cute aesthetics that is jumping from screens to our beauty bags. https://lnkd.in/d9r6P9g4 🔮 What's next? I anticipate a shift from girls to dolls. Or has that already happened? “They [models] were living paper dolls of a mid-century vintage, in ladylike suits, shifts, cocktail dresses, and evening columns glinting with oversize paillettes—though track suits with shrunken jackets and pants rising to the sternum, and pastel velour sets à la Juicy Couture (…)” https://lnkd.in/dJBZqtmr Image credits: Vogue https://lnkd.in/dKCKFBma
