Creating local digital ecosystems that prioritize inclusivity, sustainability, accountability, and human rights is critical to building a #DigitalFutureForAll. This means developing digital environments where everyone has the skills and access needed to benefit from technology, and where digital services are safe and accessible to all. On 20 and 21 September UNDP and International Telecommunication Union are hosting SDG Digital 2024 to demonstrate how digital technologies can shape a more sustainable, inclusive and responsible future. This year, the event is part of the Summit of the Future Action Days. We are working together with the Office of the UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology to make it an impactful moment. Urgent action is needed, and everyone—from governments and international organizations to civil society, private sector stakeholders, and funders—can play a role in this new era of digital cooperation. I’m excited to share more about the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN's specialized agency for information and communication technologies (ICTs). For over 150 years, ITU has been at the forefront of connecting the world, setting international standards, and fostering global cooperation for a more inclusive and connected digital future. 📡 SDG Digital 2024 is one of ITU's key initiatives, aimed at aligning digital transformation with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This project will bring together global voices to discuss how digital solutions can help address the world's most pressing challenges, from poverty and inequality to climate change and economic growth. We are looking forward to delving into the #GlobalDigitalCompact, which aims to advance an inclusive, universal, and meaningful vision of technology and innovation. In my eyes, a #DigitalFutureForAll looks like this: 1. Envisioning a world where every individual, regardless of age, can share meaningful moments virtually, fostering a sense of closeness and connectivity. 2. Aspiring for a digital library accessible to every child, promoting equitable access to knowledge and fostering a culture of lifelong learning. 3. Envisioning a future where precision agriculture, empowered by digital tools, enables sustainable and efficient farming practices for the benefit of communities worldwide. 4. Striving for a digitally inclusive economy where small businesses can seamlessly engage with global markets, contributing to the prosperity and growth of local economies. 5. Imagining a future where remote medical consultations enhance healthcare accessibility, addressing the needs of underserved communities and promoting well-being.

A proposed global agenda on #digitaltechnologies! The United Nations has released the #GlobalDigitalCompact Zero Draft. Co-facilitated by Sweden and Zambia, the document proposes 5 commitments and actions for member countries. 🗎 The #GDC Zero Draft emphasizes on #access #inclusity and #equity. 📌Objectives #1 Closing the #digitaldivides and accelerating progress on SDG's #2 Expanding #inclusion in the digital economy #3 Fostering an #inclusive, open, safe and secure digital space #4 Advancing #equitable international data governance  #5 Governing emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, for humanity In recognition of the tremendous opportunities offered by digital technologies, the #GDC provides a common roadmap for digital cooperation, and is set for adoption at the Summit of the Future in Sept 2024.
