Reflection on Talent Recruitment and Career Exhibition On June 26, 2024, I attended the Talent Recruitment and Career Exhibition. It was a great opportunity to explore different career paths and understand what various companies are looking for in potential employees. I visited several booths where I could talk to professionals and learn about their work. One of the highlights of the event was participating in the games at the booths. These games were not only fun but also informative, as they helped me learn more about the skills needed in different careers. Winning some prizes added to the enjoyment and made the experience memorable. The exhibition made me think more about my future career goals and the steps I need to take to achieve them. Talking to professionals gave me valuable insights into the industry, and the event overall inspired me to keep exploring different career options. This experience has motivated me to stay curious and open-minded about my future.

🌟 Unlocking the Power of Networking: Reflections from the NUBS PG Careers Event 🌟 Recently, I had the privilege of attending a dynamic networking event hosted by NUBS PG Careers. It was a fantastic opportunity for guests, students, and alumni to come together and forge meaningful connections in the professional sphere. Throughout the event, I had the pleasure of engaging with insightful speakers who generously shared their expertise and experiences. Their invaluable advice has left a lasting impression on me, prompting me to reflect on my own networking approach. One of the most impactful moments of the event was when guests were asked to share their number one tip for students attending networking events. The responses were diverse yet consistently focused on the importance of authenticity, active listening, and genuine curiosity. These insights have reshaped my perspective on networking, emphasizing the significance of building authentic relationships grounded in mutual respect and understanding. I am incredibly grateful to all the guests who contributed to the success of the event and shared their invaluable insights. Their wisdom has not only broadened my professional horizons but has also inspired me to approach networking with renewed enthusiasm and purpose. As we continue our journey of professional growth and development, I encourage fellow attendees to stay connected through NUBS PG Careers' Instagram (@nubs_pgcareers). There, you'll find exclusive interviews and insights from our guests and peers, providing further opportunities for learning and connection. 🌟 Let's chat about why face-to-face connections matter in the world of recruitment, especially when it comes to landing a gig in a government department! 🤝 In today's digital age, it's easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of virtual networking, but let's not forget the power of good ol' fashioned face-to-face interactions! Picture this: You're vying for a steady role in a government department, and you've got all the qualifications and experience lined up on your resume. But what sets you apart from the rest of the pack? It's that personal touch, my friends! When you have the chance to meet with recruiters or hiring managers in person, it's not just about showcasing your skills and expertise (although that's important too!). It's about forging a genuine connection and letting your personality shine through. 🌟 Think about it: Would you rather hire someone based solely on their resume, or someone you've actually had a conversation with, someone you can envision fitting seamlessly into your team culture? 🤔 Being personally connected to the company that's placing you into a government department is like having a foot in the door before you even step inside the building! It shows that you're not just interested in the job, but in the mission and values of the organisation as well. 💡 So, next time you have the opportunity to attend a networking event, career fair, or even just grab a coffee with us, seize it with both hands! 🙌 Because who knows? That face-to-face interaction could be the key to unlocking your next big career opportunity. 🔑 Here's your invite to share a coffee with us... when are you free to meet? ☕ #Recruitment #Networking #GovernmentJobs #FaceToFaceConnections

Global Head Talent Acquisition Leader @ Archlynk | Certified Global Trainer, Talent Acquisition Expert
Prior to covid one of the top places to find talent and bring everyone together was at career fairs and or Hiring Events. I remember many times hosting events with hundreds of potential candidates who all came to one location to learn about a company or opportunities that existed; hiring managers and employees all meeting potential new employees at one place! How exciting it was! Is this still a relevant process or have meaning now with our ever changing world? Is Zoom or Video interviews the new norm? Well, I certainly would like to hear from you - what are your thoughts on hosting events to attract talent? Does it work still or is it a lost art form ......how do we measure success as such - is it based on hires made or is it from growing brand of an organization? What do you think?

Here's ONE thing that I have learned since entering my junior year at the Gies College of Business ⬇️ NETWORK. NETWORK. NETWORK. 1.) Attend Industry-Specific Events: Go to career fairs, panels, or networking mixers hosted by Gies or professional organizations. These events are great for meeting industry professionals, alumni, and even recruiters who can help you get your foot in the door. 2.) Leverage LinkedIn and Social Media: Make sure your LinkedIn profile is current and actively reach out to connections within your field. Engage with posts, join groups, and don’t hesitate to send a polite message introducing yourself and asking for advice. 3.) Follow Up and Build Relationships: Networking doesn’t stop at introductions. Always follow up with people you meet. Send a thank-you email or LinkedIn message, and stay in touch. Building long-term professional relationships is key to turning those initial connections into opportunities. OH ONE MORE THING... don't forget to network :)

It is critical to learn which companies will be present before attending any career hiring event. You may identify which organizations have openings that match your skills and qualifications far earlier if you check out the employers participating and their job posts before the event. This will allow you to make the most of your time and experience while remaining less overwhelmed.
