When we compared the HBC with more advanced energy-efficient boss caps currently in operation, we found that it to be at least 3% more efficient. Overall, compared to standard propeller boss caps, the HBC improved propeller efficiency by 3.1% and thrust by 1.1%, while reducing torque by 2%, rudder cavitation by 10%, and propeller induced noise by 1-3dB. We expect the HBC to be capable of delivering increases in propulsion efficiency of up to 5%, compared to conventional propeller boss caps. - Dr Batuhan Aktas, CEng, CEO of EcoMarine Innovations.

Delivering energy-efficient climate control solutions is what we are known for. Agriculture, Food and Beverage is a market where we have a focus from field (or water), through processing and logistics, to your dinner table. Working closely with our customers and partners, we interrogate every process to find unique and innovative solutions to their requirements. One great example of this is the process of fish butchery, where we have successfully utilised adsorption dehumidification and ventilation to create the optimal climate within a fish butchery environment. Whilst many would not associate adsorption (desiccant) technology with energy-efficiency, this particular project overcame this by utilising the waste heat generated as a by-product of ice and ice water production at the facility , and using the ice water as a cooling medium to provide pre- and post-cooling to the process airflow. The net result is that the client is saving 400kW of electricity per hour compared with a typical desiccant installation - or around 82kg of CO2e per hour. Momentum is steadily growing at Innovative Fuel Systems (IFS), spearheaded by Leland Oberst. Recently, IFS welcomed the owner of a leading trucking company for a firsthand look at their groundbreaking technology. Over lunch at El Corazon YEG, discussions centered on how IFS's provisional patented technology can slash fuel expenses for trucking fleets by 15-25%, contingent upon fuel usage. During the meeting, Leland Oberst clarified inquiries about the impact of IFS technology on engine performance, emphasizing that Innovative Fuel Systems meticulously assesses engine performance using its in-house dynamometer. Concerns regarding warranties were addressed, with assurance that IFS warranties align with existing manufacturer warranties. Moreover, the environmental benefits of Innovative Fuel Systems technology were underscored, supported by US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) verification in Philadelphia in 2023, showcasing its capacity to reduce carbon emissions. It's truly inspiring to witness companies like Innovative Fuel Systems taking significant strides in providing clean technology solutions tailored to the demands of the heavy-duty trucking sector. Collaborating with private enterprises like IFS is crucial for advancing sustainability objectives and aligning with the imperative of achieving a net-zero carbon footprint by 2050. With notable clients such as KAG Canada (Westcan Bulk Transport) and Certarus Ltd. onboard, Innovative Fuel Systems exemplifies the practical integration of their technology within the industry. By boosting operational efficiency while simultaneously curbing carbon emissions, trucking companies can assume a pivotal role in shaping a more sustainable future. Keep an eye out for upcoming client announcements via press releases. In addition, Innovative Fuel Systems is excited to participate in the Truck World Show in Mississauga. Check out their booth to learn more about their innovative solutions. #IFS #InnovativeFuelSystems #CleanTech #Decarbonization #HeavyDutyTrucking #NetZero2035 #Sustainability #CarbonFootprint #GreenTechnology #FuelEfficiency #TransportationInnovation #EcoFriendly #RenewableEnergy #Texas #StateofTexas #dynamometer #EPA #Philadelphia

The UN estimates that the food and drink industry use 30% of global energy and account for 20% of GHG emissions (source: Food Manufacture https://lnkd.in/grcJ5A5i) Manufacturers are facing a multitude of pressures to reduce their emissions so this industry session at Innovation Zero was a great insight; especially hearing from Sandrine. If you are a drinks business, we'd love to hear from you and offer support where/if needed. #innovationzero #emissionsreporting #decarbonisation #netzero
It was a pleasure to return to Innovation Zero to speak on a panel about the different innovative ways businesses are reducing their carbon emissions. At Chivas Brothers we have a test and learn mentality, where we have trialled a diverse range of solutions, from the use of mechanical vapour recompression (MVR) technology in the distillation process to introducing circular bio-gas trucks and Scotland’s first all-electric tractor unit to reduce emissions in transport. To make the change that’s needed and at scale, it’s important to invest time and money into exploring innovative solutions. Thank you to Amy Elliott Peace for brilliantly moderating and my fellow panellists Suneet Shivaprasad Adrian Fielding David Pugh Camilla Nilsson for sharing such valuable insights about how your businesses are tackling this important issue. #innovationzero #ChivasBrothers #SustainableBusiness #Decarbonisation
