The EuroGO-SHIP tribe gathering in Venice today for the project’s 2nd Annual Meeting. Excellent updates on the progress made toward piloting best practice methods, streamlining FAIR data flow, and understanding the needs of regional hydrography communities through broad consultations. Some of the areas we discussed today include: · The importance of gaining a clear picture of all ship-based hydrography activity being conducted in Europe. · The need for an ongoing focus on piloting best practices for the ship-based hydrography community beyond the project's timeline. · Assessing statistical features of trend detection to increase understanding of ocean properties. · Developing useful software apps for running quality control in ship-board labs. ·  The benefits of working side-by-side when conducting sample comparison analyses versus comparing documents. ·  The importance of surveying and following up with end-users to firmly establish ongoing links.
