This article presents an analysis of wave-object interactions for an entrance hall and on a street of a residential area at 142 GHz. Single-directional channel sounding and the resulting spatiotemporal propagation path estimates are fused with the detailed geometry of the environment through a ray launcher. The improved ray launcher accounts for higher-order reflections and realizes high correspondence of the measured paths on the geometry, allowing them to analyze wave-object interaction. In channels without line-of-sight, first- and second-order reflections contribute about 60% of the total power. ----Mar Francis De Guzman, Katsuyuki Haneda More details can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/gjPefyPt

This paper is possibly the first to use #empirical #data to investigate the correlation between the #Radio #Frequency and #Free #Space #Optical channels across a wide range of weather conditions including #dust #storms, #fog, #drizzle, #rain, #snow, #showers and #clear #skies. It reports 1) the distributions of #RF #attenuation under different #FSO #channel states; 2) the joint distribution of the RF and FSO attenuations; and 3) the #Pearson #correlation coefficient and mutual information. Their empirical data illustrate a #negative #non-#linear correlation during dust storm and a positive linear correlation during fog and snow.----Siu Wai Ho, Gerald Bolding More details can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/grcFiWwh

This paper is aimed at validating the improvement in predictions when #Kriging is included for #mmWave frequency #path #loss modeling in a long indoor corridor with break. In order to quantify the accuracy of the proposed methodology, it is compared with a well-established procedure described in the literature. Extensive path-loss measurements were collected through specialized narrowband sounders at 28 and 60 GHz. Spatially averaged power measurements using omnidirectional and directive antennas at different heights provided the empirical basis for the three-dimensional Kriging-aided model. ---- Melissa Eugenia Diago Mosquera, Alejandro Aragón Zavala, Mauricio Rodríguez More details can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/eJ-C_nBj

📡 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐬 #𝐀𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚: 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧?📡 💡 Simple open #waveguide #antennas represent the extreme case of a horn antenna with a minimal aperture. While this configuration results in a relatively broad radiation pattern, suitable for certain applications, it suffers from several drawbacks. 👉 Due to the abrupt transition from the waveguide to free space, impedance matching is compromised, leading to higher #returnloss (S11) compared to horn antennas. Additionally, the simulations (here WR12 waveguide) reveal significant electric field concentrations at the edges of the waveguide aperture. ❓𝐈𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐬?
