Founder & Chief Executive Officer at Toss & Spin (Tennis & Pickleball Events) 2023 BizBash Sports Power Player Award
Brands are doing more tennis activations for several reasons: 1. Global Audience and Demographics: Tennis has a large, diverse, and global fan base that spans various age groups and socioeconomic classes. This wide appeal allows brands to reach a broad audience. 2. New Product Innovation: For so long brands only thought that 4 players could only be on court at once. Now with things like Cardio Tennis, Liveball, and other programming, you can fit 15-20 people on one court. This increases on-site brand reach like never before. 3. Engagement Opportunities: Tennis activations offer various engagement opportunities, including on-site experiences, digital campaigns, and social media interactions, allowing brands to create immersive and interactive marketing strategies. Pairing on court with digital strategies creates a very unique reach for brands and products. Again, this is an amazing example from Free People & PlayYourCourt on a best in class way to do this. While I'm not particularly a sports fan, I do love seeing the brands and co-marketing campaigns and partnerships that come from sporting events! I was even part of creating promotional stadium screen content last year (that was fun!) At uni, we learned all about the commercialisation of sport as entertainment, especially as a way for television studios to reduce costs of creating films and television programs and to accelerate television purchases in households. Advertising helped fund and promote professional sport as an industry too. And here we are today with the likes of the Australian Open, The Grand Final, The Superbowl, The World Cup and The Olympics which are watched by millions of people, and plenty of other regional sports. And with a huge audience like that comes huge advertising spend, player sponsorship and exclusive naming rights deals for businesses to get their brand out to as many people as possible. A captive audience like that is an advertisers' dream, but can also be their downfall. Activations, partnerships and advertising needs to be tactful and not overshadow the whole reason for the audiences' attendance and that is the game. What are your thoughts on brands and advertisers' place in the sporting industry? #Sport #AustralianOpen #SuperBowl #SportAdvertising #Advertising #Branding

Mr. Toshan Patil, A similar parallel can be drawn to our own journeys in the professional corporate workplace. There really is no expiry date for your career dreams. For most working professionals, career progression is indeed a continuous work-in-progress, and with the passage of time, combined with experience, our professional goalposts also keep on changing, becoming more and more closely aligned with our true interests. This is where we must traverse a new path in order to accomplish our life and career goals. Change will persist as long as there is life, and this change will not remain constant or linear. Whenever we face emotional or visceral conflicts in life and career, especially while contemplating changing of careers, we only need to take a leaf out of the bestselling seminal work - Who Moved My Cheese? 🧀 🍕 An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life, authored by Spencer Johnson. The adage - "Age is just a number" has often been repeated time and again, and if one is physically fit and active, there is no reason as to why a career transition cannot be made seamlessly at any age. Whether you are 30 or 40 or 50 years old hardly matters, as long as you have the will to make a fresh start and persist in a steadfast manner. For professionals facing a mid-career crisis....... The 40's and 50's are also the age when we, as professionals with almost two or three decades of work experience, can bring considerable skillsets and maturity to the table. This could also be the age to follow second career options, unconventional paths, or convert hobbies and interests into full-time income-generating professions. Taking refresher courses in the chosen or respective fields could be another option to remain up to date with the current market trends and in-demand skills. Consulting is another option for such mid-career professionals, given the vast number of years of experience that they may have garnered in several organisations. It is definitely a great idea to connect with stakeholders with whom you have worked in the past, but do not expect all of them to oblige you. This is where "Personal Brand Building" and "Networking" come into the picture and assume great importance. Connecting with other like-minded professionals at conferences, seminars, and panel discussions is another professional way of reaching out. The key to success, especially during a mid-life career change is self-confidence, perseverance, a sense of optimism or a positive outlook, and a relentless zeal to keep working till the goal is accomplished.
What a moment for Tennis when both the World Number 1s in Singles and Doubles are the oldest to ever do it. If these two phenomenons aren’t proof that age is nothing but a number, then nothing is. Loved watching #MerakiHero Rohan Bopanna’s chat with #NovakDjokovic. #IndianSports
