Seabourn Pursuit has officially been named during a historic expedition ceremony on Ngula Jar Island, Australia. With guests on Zodiacs® alongside the ship and the ship’s onboard team lined up on the decks, the Wunambal Gaambera Traditional Owners named Seabourn Pursuit, marking the first time Traditional Owners named a ship. The day honored Wunambal Gaambera Country and the Kimberley region, featuring a Wunambal Gaambera welcome and smoking ceremony, “jimɨrri,” the “Junba” traditional storytelling song and dance, and visits to ancient rock art sites. The naming ceremony, held in both Wunambal Gaambera language and English, included a blessing for all who will ever sail on board. A bottle crafted from sugar and coated with sand from Ngula Jar Island shattered against the bow of the ship, honoring one of the oldest maritime traditions. The bottle serves not only as a vessel of celebration but a symbol of our friendship and our deep respect and admiration for the owners of the land. Join us in celebrating the naming of Seabourn Pursuit!
