The Scoutmaster for my son's troop after I'd been the Advancement Chair for a few months: "Wow, Frank, you're really on it!" A PI attorney-client responded to my first email, which raised several questions based on my review of documents: "Wow, Frank, this is super helpful! Thanks so much for this!" I have to say I was a little confused. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate positive feedback. It's good to know your work is impactful, but I always thought that's just the way it was done. It's how I've been trained. Keep moving forward; think ahead; think laterally; be resourceful; go the extra mile; get done and review... I could go on and I've cleaned that list up because "Dumbass" was usually in there somewhere. It wasn't easy and rarely pleasant but I think it made me better at the things I take on as well as dealing with the unexpected. I mean, how else do you get shit done?

🚀 Watching Starship launch today had me thinking about the next 10 years and motivational intelligence... If we can launch a mega rocket booster, catch it mid-air with “chopstick” arms, and send it back to space again, what does that say about our potential? What are we capable of when we combine vision, relentless drive, constant learning and team work? Seeing that massive rocket take off, only to come back down and land in the most epic way, was like witnessing the impossible become reality. The sheer collective ambition behind that mission, the relentless pursuit of something bigger, made me reflect on what motivates us to reach for the stars. Over the next 10 years, I believe the same principles driving these launches will be the ones that fuel our personal and collective growth. Motivational Intelligence will be the rocket fuel for how we approach life, setting ambitious goals, pushing ourselves to act with purpose, reflecting on each step, and adapting as we go and finding peers to chase our pursuits with. What did you do yesterday afternoon? I found myself with the opportunity to throw in the Washington Nationals bullpen during a tour of the park! I was initially hesitant--after all, I had not thrown a baseball in years. What if I messed up? But with a little prompting from a friend, then I thought: "What is there to mess up? What's at risk?" Very little, really. In fact, there was so much to gain, and I would have kicked myself later if I had passed up the opportunity. It struck me as a great example of how we can get caught in our own heads and talk ourselves in or out of "success," independent of our talents and the actual stakes. With a little support, we can recenter and find that we have what we need, we just need to access it. That is the wonder of coaching.
