Sindbad the Sailor is a legendary figure known for his incredible seafaring adventures. He is traditionally associated with the rich maritime heritage of the Arabian Peninsula, particularly Oman. Today, as Oman celebrates its 54th National Day, I’m reminded of the legendary spirit of Sindbad the Sailor—a symbol deeply woven into Oman's rich maritime heritage. Having spent over 10 incredible years in this beautiful country, I've witnessed firsthand the courage, resilience, and boundless curiosity that echo through its history. Sindbad's tales of adventure can be found in the One Thousand and One Nights, (also known as Arabian Nights), a collection of Middle Eastern folktales embodies the essence of Oman. While it has always been a land of fearless explorers, seafarers, and traders who navigated uncharted waters - the spirit of forging connections across the world is as palpable even today as it has been in the past. This legacy of exploration, underpinned by hospitality and cultural richness, continues to inspire and define the Omani spirit. On this National Day, I celebrate not just the progress of this great nation but also its enduring values of humility, tradition, and the pursuit of discovery – even while retaining its authenticity. Today, as the nation heralds the infinite possibilities ahead while embracing the #Oman Vision 2040, I am excited to read reports like the recent #International Monetary Fund’s Middle East regional report which offers valuable GCC comparative data.  One chart that can make all of us proud is that of the #FDI growth – Oman has significantly outperformed the rest of the GCC over the past three years, which speaks volumes about the exciting road ahead, while validating the successful work done so far. While the traditional #dhow ships, which were the vessels used by ancient sailors including the likes of Sindbad, remains an enduring symbol of Oman’s connection to the sea, let the years ahead see Oman lead the rest of the world in unchartered waters of peace, progress and prosperity. Important Notice 📢Updates to Suez Canal Navigation from the SCA regarding Yachts! With reference to the approval of the Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) on the Transit Dept. Memorandum No. 82/A on 8/4/2024, inbound from the Management Dept. No. 3239 dated 8/4/2024, the following measures are hereby sanctioned: 1. All yachts are hereby exempted from the provisions of Circular No. 1/2024 pertaining to the application of mooring and light services. Consequently, the regulations in force prior to the implementation of the aforementioned circular shall remain applicable, consistent with the SCA Rules of Navigation, 2020 Edition. 2. An annual financial and technical assessment shall be conducted based on the statistical data of yachts' volume. It remains at the discretion of the SCA to modify these assessments. This initiative represents the SCA's contribution to bolstering the efforts of the Egyptian Starc and fostering yacht tourism in Egypt's marinas and ports. 3.
