Every contractor participating in an energy efficiency rebate program incurs what are often called “carrying costs.” These are essentially the costs incurred between the time when a project is installed and when that rebate is paid out by the program. Keeping carrying costs low is more important than ever now that the historic Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Home Energy Rebates are hitting the market. Luckily, thoughtful program design can help minimize carrying costs for all.  https://lnkd.in/eNrn9TRw

This is especially important as we want new contractors to join the industry. Many of these new entrants (we hope!) wont have generational wealth and simply can’t carry these costs until payment. If we want more contractors from under represented and under served communities we need to fix this.

So important. I've had contractors in my house when I ask about installations bitching (rightfully so) about this - to the point a lot don't want to deal with it.
