Three companies disrupting what you know about marketing and branding. Welcome to m ^2. And we're back at the 25th anniversary, the SEC Annual Business Conference. Joining us, special guest David Guest, president, CEO or the Seamen Society here in Staten Island, NY. Thank you for sitting down with us. Thank you. Pleasure to be here, David. Tell us a little bit about what seemed. Thank you, Michael, as well. Thank you. Tell us a little bit about what Sean Society does. First of all, thanks for asking. It's pleasure to be here at the SABC event. Society is the oldest nonprofit on Staten Island. We are entrusted by the City of New York to care for children and families. Vulnerable children and families were known primarily for our foster care programming whereby the city has asked us to in partnership with with wonderful foster parents here in Staten Island and also in in parts of Brooklyn to care for over 300 children that are currently involved with our agency. That's alright, we're over on base. On the North Shore, and it's just one of the many wonderful programs that we offer. We also offer programming that's designed to stabilize, that's going through a tough time in a way that may threaten the safety and security of the children. So we work with the families to get them to a place where the children could continue to remain care for and safely. We also offer a programming in the domestic violence space where we are working with survivors of. Trusted violence and ensuring their safety. We also have a tutoring program. We have a scholarship program that we've done for over 25 years, even through the pandemic, through the generosity of private donors, karate scholarships to students and prop that are still in our care and our foster care. So quite a few services. We have a wonderful team, over 200 very caring professionals and it's just a privilege and honor to to serve families and Staten Island. It's a really incredible offerings that you don't you don't really hear about everyday. So you mentioned you're the oldest nonprofit on Staten Island. So how many years we've been around since 1846. Get out here, yes. Actually, it's interesting, we were established before the community of Saint George was even, wow, failed. There's a sign right next to Borough Hall that I, that I've seen a couple of times. And I think that was around 1880 something, 1880. So we were around before Saint George was even Paul St. George. Now, were you always in? Obviously the building would have changed. It wasn't there yet. This is not always in that same area. Yeah. Yes. Founded by some wonderful women. Since Peter Stuyvesant and other very generous women back in 1846 looking to care for basically orphaned and abandoned children of the sailors and seamen that were in out of the port of New York, which is where we got our name, Siemens. And over time we became known as an organization that had a home based solution, which was pretty progressive at the time, back in the early 1900s, early 20th century. And overtime, the city of New York asked us to do more and more things to serve the community. So we are in partnership with the city. Essentially, we are entrusted to the care of the of of these families and by the city of New York. So what's the best way for families in need to be able to find you? I would start by you could just go to our website, certainly www.siemenssociety.org. And as society.org, that's probably a great way to learn about what we do in our services. As I said before, we are in partnership with the Administration for Children Services in the city of New York and and the city. We partnered to place families with foster parents or provide services that are referred to us through the city or through the community and our preventive services model. We also are continually trying to identify new foster parents through the community. They actually have some information or both. Or you can go to our website and learn about becoming a foster parent. So that's another way to to learn about what you do and how you can help. And you mentioned you have a, a third annual event going on, right. Thank you. Yes, one of the reasons why we're here at the DC conference today is not only just to, to talk about our work, but also very importantly to promote and talk about an upcoming event that directly benefits the children in our foster care program. It's called the Robert. And Barbara Hudson family fun walk. It's the funds actually support the Robert and Barbara Fitzsimmons children and family fund that's seen in society. Mr. and Mrs. Fitzsimmons were wonderful benefactors of semen society. Their children Robert Fitzsimmons junior and level scenario created this fund a few years ago designed to raise funds to support for children in our care. As I mentioned before, we we partnered with the city, but there are certain things that the city won't fund. For example, summer camps or music lessons or ballet lessons or boxing lessons or whatever is needed by that particular child that unique experiences relate to caller. So every year this is the third annual family fun walk that's a community walk. The last two years we've had it over in Clove Lakes Park and it was very successful. This will be the third year and this year we're having it at Snug Harbor. OK, so a wonderful venue. It'll be held on Sunday, June 9th. And again, you can go to our website and learn more about it www.siemenssociety.org. If you're interested in in registering and participating in the event, please do. There are also sponsorship activity sponsorship opportunities starting from as well as $100 to be a a course sponsor to walk through the this this year, the Snug Harbor Cultural Center area up to $5000 of sponsorship or whatever the generous business. The way to do to support the event. So we're looking to hopefully have many businesses and individuals looking to support this wonderful event. Over the years, seeing society has had an annual gala and this is now the third year of this really special event and we want to make sure that it becomes very well known as well. So looking forward to having this Sunday, June 9th in Stock Harbor and sponsorships and register all on the website on the website www.thankyoumichael www.siemens. Society.org SE AM ENS society.org and we'll also put it right underneath you. Thank you right on the video, David, we talked a lot about Staten Island as a whole and and how it's such a community driven place, the work that you're doing and what the people in Siemens society are doing. It's really great to be able to give opportunity to people who deserve it and need it and really provide resources for people in need. Thank you for what you're doing. Thank you Look forward to seeing more thank you gentlemen, thank you thank you for joining us for having me and I hope you enjoy the rest of the. IDC about you as well and enjoy the lunch. Thank you David Gaskin seems exciting. New York. Thank you. Thank you. Alright.

Forget the suitcase! 🧳 Have you ever seen ads or heard about programs that supply kids in foster care with suitcases to make it so they can move with more dignity than throwing all of their belongings in a trash bag? That's such a tangible concept to imagine - of course, kids shouldn't have their things in garbage bags.
But those ads always make us wonder "What if there were a healthy, familiar grown-up attached to that suitcase?" Isn't that what they really need? Someone consistent they can trust and who knows their story.
✅ Someone who knows what book they're on in the Wings of Fire series,
✅ who knows their favorite type of muffin (not blueberry, cuz mushy fruit=gross),
✅ someone who knows their favorite song
...someone who knows them, and will show up no matter what?
Stephanie is that person holding the suitcase. 🧳

New to CHiPS? Here are 10 facts about what we do and how we’re dedicated to helping the community!
🧡 Founded in 1971, CHiPS is based in the Park Slope/Gowanus neighborhood of Brooklyn.
🧡CHiPS is a full-service soup kitchen and food pantry open six days a week, as well as a home for expectant single mothers.
🧡Our mission is to ameliorate food insecurity and homelessness in Brooklyn.
🧡We serve 600+ meals daily!
🧡When it comes to food, CHiPS meals are some of the healthiest around. With weekly donations from Trader Joe's, ReThink, and City Harvest, the food we prepare is fresh and organic.
🧡In 2020, we adapted our dine-in soup kitchen to a to-go food distribution model, allowing guests to grab delicious food on the go.
🧡We are a small but mighty staff supported by dedicated volunteers who come together to ensure our neighbors have a place to turn for delicious, healthy meals.
🧡Our Frances Residence was created in 1999 to provide transitional homes for prenatal and postpartum women and their infants.
🧡This residence offers fully-furnished studio apartments for expecting or single mothers in need of emergency temporary housing.
🧡Since 1971, CHiPS has valued and relied on the support of our volunteers who come from all different backgrounds and neighborhoods, but who join together in our shared goal of community.

4. Organize a Block Party: Bring the community together with a block party! Ask your neighbors to bring food and activities that reflect their culture or family.

Here are three tips to help combat loneliness as we move into spring:
1. Get Outside
Take advantage of the improving weather by spending time outdoors. Whether it's going for a walk in the park, sitting in a garden, or simply enjoying the sunshine, being in nature can boost your mood and provide opportunities for casual interactions with others.
2. Join Community Events
Many communities host outdoor events and activities during the spring season. Look for local gatherings, farmers' markets, or outdoor concerts where you can connect with others who share similar interests. Engaging in group activities can help alleviate loneliness by fostering new connections.
3. Volunteer
Giving back to your community can be a rewarding way to combat loneliness while making a positive impact. Consider volunteering for spring clean-up efforts, community gardens, or other charitable organizations. Not only will you meet new people, but you'll also feel a sense of purpose and fulfillment.
If you need help with any of these please ask as I have lots of experience.
Keith 🙏

The "Community Closet on Wheels" initiative, spearheaded by Daiyzah Glenn, exemplifies innovative outreach to address the urgent needs of the homeless population in Atlanta, Georgia. This project transforms a cargo van into a mobile closet that delivers essential items such as clothing and hygiene products directly to those in need, at no charge. These pop-up shops not only provide necessities but also promote dignity and foster community connections.
More than a mere transportation tool, the "Community Closet on Wheels" stands as a symbol of compassion and a catalyst for community-driven change. It showcases the profound impact of combining practical solutions with heartfelt engagement and steadfast support.
Significantly, the Pollination Project's seed grant has been instrumental in the project's inception. It facilitated crucial early developments, including the project's formal incorporation and attainment of 501(c)(3) status, enhancing its credibility and broadening its donor base. Additionally, the grant has expanded networking opportunities with organizations aligned in mission, thereby amplifying the project's ability to serve effectively.
This initial funding has been vital, acting as a springboard that has allowed "Community Closet on Wheels" to secure broader attention and support, ultimately enabling it to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Atlanta's homeless individuals.
