I solve organizational information security problems with data-driven research, bleeding-edge ingenuity, exciting experiences, strategic cross-organizational networking, and a hacker mindset.

Sooo, I passed the #CISSP exam... Almost an entire month ago! The endorsement packet instructions could've been more explicit, but I got it together and submitted it nearly 3 weeks ago. Not only that but take a look at the test center printout below. It says the test results take 2-5 business days to get transmitted to ISC2, which is on par with snail mail. (Legit question: Are the results sent via USPS with standard postage?) What a slow process! There's certainly room for growth. What are other people's experiences with ISC2 regarding getting credentials conferred? I contacted their member support, but they couldn't tell me if anything had been done or what progress had been made. Is this due to secrecy or a lack of visibility? The endorsement status page hasn't been updated since I submitted the endorsement packet, so I can't tell if I'm near or far from the finish line or what still needs to be done. When I get a package shipped through FedEx or UPS, I get delivery updates and statuses directly to my phone. I realize this isn't a delivery service, but there has to be some middle ground between a black box and detailed step-by-step insights. Now that I passed the exam, my challenge to ISC2 is to find a way to streamline your processes. Anyway, I'm eager for the official endorsement so I can add this new title to my growing list of post-nominal credentials.

It took 4 weeks for my endorsement to be approved and another 3 weeks after that to get the physical ceritificate and pin in the mail.

It takes slightly less time than when I did it - it was 2008 and I did it with paper and pencil. The results where to be read by some mechanical machine 🤭 The long time is not acknowledging the result of the exam - this is known the minute after you finished it - but the manual work required to review your application. This is why it does not happen significantly sooner than in 2008 - the verification is still completed manually, and this is what confers value to the title. You are lucky you have done it at a computer and now it is adaptive.

In my opinion the process ISC2 uses to verify candidates is robust, and thorough. It took about 3-4 weeks for me to get my official paperwork in the mail and pin (circa 2021). The certification is robust, and wide, and the vetting process is manual, and humans review it. In my opinion that adds value. Way too many paper certifications out there, CISSP is not one of them.

First off congrats! I 100% agree with you on the streamlining part, but that said they are totally upfront with their emails, haha. It can be torture waiting for that congrats email though so I sympathize with you. Mine took about 2 months to get endorsed because my initial application was "lost", which I didn't know until I waited the full 6 weeks. I usually tell folks to reach out around the 3-week mark to check in but to not hold their breath before then. Some get processed ~2 weeks but most are 3-5 weeks. The transfer of results being 2-5 days is probably more their SLA with the test proctor sites and more than likely includes any quality checks they need to do before "posting" the results.

I provisionally passed on April 3, paperwork filed April 5 and have not heard a word yet. Like you, this accomplishment is something that I can not wait to add to my resume. Hang in there, hopefully it happens soon.

Congratulations. The most important thing is passing the exam! The endorsement will come eventually but the feeling of a checked off milestone is the best!
