Learning how to speak with clarity and confidence is a sure ticket to elevation.
Having trouble speaking up? Can you command attention with your voice? Are you struggling to be heard or find yourself mumbling? Do individuals easily speak over you? Do colleagues ask you to repeat yourself which can lead to embarrasment? A powerful voice is one that is clear and can be heard by many in the surrounding area whether it is a small office or a large conference hall. Bottom line: When you speak more clearly and use your optimal voice for conversation, you will feel more confident. With confidence comes a greater image in the minds around you. 🙌 A huge shout out to Marc Stoecker and Lindsay Humber for leading a workshop sharing strategies for Engaging in hard conversations with care. 🌱 Hosted by Chesapeake Bay Organization Development Network, this collaborative discussion brought lots to the table to think about and some great reinforcement of the things I've told clients. 🔻 📈 Conversations are not competitions 📈"if you are disagreeing, there's opportunity for learning." What questions are you asking that help you learn about the other person? 📈"Putting yourself in their shoes requires that you can read their mind. Can you really read their mind" or instead, can you ask them questions of understanding and curiosity to help you empathize with their perspective. 🧠 So glad I attended and so looking forward to my path continuing to cross with the other amazing humans that were there. #curiosity #conversations #dialogue #learning #selfdevelopment

🚫 What NOT to Do When Building Positive Teacher-Student Relationships 🚫 In our quest to nurture meaningful teacher-student relationships, it's equally crucial to be aware of what NOT to do. These pitfalls can hinder the growth of trust, respect, and understanding in our classrooms. Let's dive into the "DON'Ts." 💬 1. Don't Ignore Their Voices: Every student's perspective matters. Avoid dismissing their opinions or concerns. Listening actively is the cornerstone of building trust and respect. 🔄 2. Don't Be Inconsistent: Consistency is key. Avoid erratic behavior or showing favoritism. Set clear expectations and treat all students fairly and consistently. 😡 3. Don't React with Anger: Mistakes happen. Avoid reacting with anger or frustration when students falter. Instead, view these moments as opportunities for growth and learning. ⚖️ 4. Don't Overstep Boundaries: Respect personal boundaries. Avoid prying into students' lives or oversharing about your own. Maintain professionalism and an appropriate distance. Let's remember that the journey of building positive teacher-student relationships is a shared responsibility. By avoiding these common pitfalls, we create an environment where trust, respect, and growth can truly flourish. 🌱 #Education #TeacherStudentRelationships #MistakesToAvoid #Teaching #RelationshipBuilding #Boundaries

As inherently social beings, we engage with others constantly—whether at work, school, or in our communities. These interactions can sometimes trigger emotions and past experiences, making effective communication challenging. Maintaining ‘clean’ relationships, those rooted in the present and not influenced by past baggage, is a core value for me. Here are four strategies I use: 1. Recognize Past Influences: Identify when past experiences are affecting your reactions. 2. Identify Your ‘Gremlins’: Understand the parts of yourself that take over in challenging situations. 3. Use Nonviolent Communication (NVC): Follow NVC’s steps of observations, feelings, needs, and requests to communicate effectively. 4. Try ‘Rage Journaling’: Release negative emotions safely and find a balanced perspective. Navigating relationships requires patience and self-compassion. Discover and update your strategies to grow. #relationships #ukteachertraining #teachertraingingcourse #ukteacher #ukteachers #ukschools #progessiveeducators #coaching #startwithheart
