When people ask me what do I need to do to be successful as a leader, I say this to them. The best leaders are students. People who are willing to learn and willing to grow. Great leaders look to themselves to change before wanting others to change. Great leaders let go of their ego and are willing to listen. Great leaders create change for success

Words have the power to either build up or break down a team. They can inspire, motivate, and unite, or they can create division, doubt, and disconnection. Choose your words carefully, for they shape the culture, strength, and success of the entire team.
Words can build or break a team. Great leaders know that: Leaders empower. Bosses overpower. Leaders support. Bosses control. Leaders guide. Bosses direct. Leaders build. Bosses break. Leaders listen. Bosses talk. It all comes down to » What you say » How you say it » When you say it. Here are 8 Phrases to make your team stronger: "I believe in you." "Great job on that." "Let's learn from this." "I trust your judgment." "How can I support you?" "Let's solve this together." "What are your thoughts?" "Thank you for your efforts." The right words have the power to shape others. Master your words, master your leadership. Author: Dr. Christian Poensgen

Not everyone can be a leader. The skills should be learn and improvise over time. As simple as choosing how to address the issues to a bigger challenge when dealing with your team member. As someone that experience toxic environment in workplace, I would say any words and phrases use to encounter during work do really matter. How confidence you are with your self but if someone keep giving you indirect negative feedback, it will eventually making you doubt yourself. So please be the one that can lead instead of bossing around. At the end of the day, giving your team a good and positive remarks actually help a lot in the overall performance. Choose how to deal with a certain circumstances without downgrading the person.

Interesting article on what makes a good leader. My experience in my executive search practice is that pessimists are not good leaders because they tend to be demotivating to their team. Also, I don't agree on the generic statement that optimists can't be effective leaders. Having a positive outlook on the future doesn't mean your head is in the clouds. The biggest problem in choosing people is understanding how they navigate their pessimism/optimism under pressure.
