At Sea to Summit, we believe the outdoors is for everyone. We continuously work to build a more inclusive workplace, brand, and culture within our offices and in the outdoor places we play. We recognize the importance of the June celebrations in North America and strengthening the diverse voices within our communities so that we are all part of this change. It is only with this connectedness, mutual respect and belonging that we proudly stand alongside those who find their sanctuary within nature. See you outside! #diversityoutdoors #pridemonth #getoutside #outdoorcommunity

So Maslow was right. You know that famous hierarchy of his? The 5 universal needs which all humans share? In the 1940s, Mr Abraham Maslow concluded that after food, water, shelter (Rung 1) and basic safety (Rung 2), love and a sense of belonging is the next most important need for us humans. I’ve spent nearly a decade working with communities and the events that provide them with that sense of belonging. From the artists of the upper Blue Mountains, to the mine workers in the coal country of central Queensland, a common desire bubbles to the surface in every conversation: A desire to feel connected to something bigger, to belong. In every piece of research and consultation we do as part of our work, the role place-based events can play in uncovering and activating that sense of belonging is clear. Events that reflect a community’s unique culture and rituals deliver a sense of collective identity like no other vehicle can, and in turn, provide that sense of belonging we all need. Bravo Mr Maslow. #placeidentity #culture #placebranding #events

Diving into the impactful realm of St. Patrick's Day celebrations, we uncover a unique facet of cultural unity that resonates within workplace diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). As the nation bathes in the verdant glow of this annual celebration, it serves as more than just a festivity; it's a reflection of shared values and inclusivity. St. Patrick's Day can be a catalyst for fostering a sense of belonging and appreciation for diversity. Companies often leverage the occasion to promote cultural awareness, encouraging employees to learn about Irish traditions and history. This inclusive approach not only celebrates the rich tapestry of backgrounds but also contributes to a more vibrant and harmonious workplace culture. #DEI #InclusionAtWork #CulturalUnity #StPatricksDayImpact #WorkplaceDiversity #EquityAndInclusion

𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. My friend Marie Sheffield from Maine/USA is visiting me this week and I'm learning a lot about my own culture. Marie walks through the streets with her eyes open and asks me questions like why people put their bags next to them on the train. Sometimes I think, wait a minute, good question and then I have to pause for a moment to find the answer 𝗔𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲. 𝗪𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗶𝘁. Here are a few of her observations: · Everything is so clean in Switzerland, less tv screens in public and the advertisements are small. · It’s quiet wherever we go. Even when people are talking in a restaurant, the noise level is lower than in the U.S.. · There seems to be a basic level of trust. E.g., there are hardly any guards in the art museum, or if there are, they are not so apparent. Or, when we went tobogganing, we rented them without having to fill in lots of forms, no helmets, and no safety videos. Just go and have fun. · Clocks are everywhere. · Ketchup seems to be less important when eating fries. 😊 𝗡𝗼𝘄, 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱? 😉𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗹. Being successful across cultures starts with yourself. Cultural self-awareness is the first step and is crucial. If you are aware of your cultural background and how it manifests itself in the way you work together, you will adapt and thrive more confidently and effectively across cultures. Observe the thousand species of birds, each with unique songs, colors, and flight patterns, soaring freely in the vastness of the sky. Their differences don't hinder their ability to coexist and thrive. They share the same resource – the sky – without competition or limitation. In our diverse workplaces, industries, and societies, the "sky" is our potential: the space for collaboration, innovation, and shared success. Here's what the birds can teach us: - Embrace Difference: Each species has its own strengths, weaknesses, and ways of being. Celebrate unique perspectives and experiences within your team. - Collaboration is Key: Flocks navigate obstacles and find food together. Foster teamwork and open communication to achieve shared goals. - Respect Shared Space: Birds avoid mid-air collisions! Be mindful of others' needs and boundaries to create a harmonious environment. - Remember: Just like the sky welcomes every bird, we can create inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential. Have you ever had the feeling that your industry is saturated and you might not have a chance ? #Diversity #Inclusion #Collaboration #Inspiration #Teamwork #SharedSuccess
