https://lnkd.in/dUMjkyE3 BAE Systems successfully tested its anti-drone AMPV C-UAS system: an Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System prototype. The test assessed the detection, tracking, identification, and defeat of stationary and moving aerial and ground targets. According to Interesting Engineering, the system was tested during realistic battlefield scenarios in which the AMPV C-UAS showed its ability to accurately detect, track, identify, defeat, or turn off stationary and moving aerial and ground targets. BAE Systems AMPV program director Bill Sheehy stated: “From the earliest combat capability concept stage of the AMPV program, we intentionally designed a modular and flexible configuration to provide an adaptable and ready-for-growth platform for the warfighter.” The US Army received the first AMPVs from BAE Systems in 2020. These vehicles mark the introduction of a modular armored vehicle system that enables the Army to customize the AMPV for various purposes. From carrying personnel to serving as a mobile surgical operating theater, the AMPV can be modified quickly for different roles. Brandon Gollwitzer, Moog Inc. (aerospace and defense company) Turreted Weapon Systems general manager, explained: “The fully-integrated mission capability demonstrated in this RIwP (Reconfigurable Integrated-weapons Platform) equipment package on AMPV is ready now and poised to meet the current and future needs of our warfighters.” In the future, Moog will reportedly supply and integrate the C-UAS weapon system with Leonardo DRS’ Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radars, C2 systems, and Northrop Grumman’s XM914 30mm cannon. This innovative system provides significant improvements in power, mobility, interoperability, and survivability for soldiers. #technews #ai #ia #aircraft #defense #security #military #weapons #drones #geopolitics #usa

I booked the initial meeting with the Defense Innovation Unit while working at Domino. When I see stuff a post like this, it makes me smile. 😁 Sales Development is often a thankless role. Tons of pressure and lots of rejection. But every once in a while, you land a gem that creates lasting ROI and impact. As a former BDR, I love seeing meetings I sourced yield fruitful partnerships. #Sales #Marketing #Growth

Recent advancements in drone technology coupled with funding dilemmas have put the U.S. Air Force into a predicament about the destiny of their planned sixth-gen stealth fighter. The 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐢𝐫 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (NGAD) fighter, a high-stake project, is now up for a reevaluation. 🤔✈️ Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin has yet to make a firm decision, but he did provide some intriguing clues. A potential shift on the horizon from long-term platforms to rapidly changing unmanned systems that could tackle new threats with higher efficiency. 🎯🕹️ This introspection is partly a result of insights from the 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐢𝐫𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭 (CCA) drone wingman initiative. A possibility of fast-paced designs and short sustainment tails might navigate the defense industry to a fresh course. Allvin further hinted that newer platforms might not necessarily have a tenure as long as their predecessors, indicating a potential change in tactics. 🔄🛰️ So, what does this signify for the defense industry? And how might it affect the future of warfare? The answers are yet to unfold! Watch this space for more updates on #AirForce #NGAD #DroneTechnology #DefenseIndustry 📡🌐🔍

The US military is keeping it secret who won the real-world dogfight between a human pilot and an AI flying an F-16 fighter jet - Business Insider "The tests occurred last September at Edwards Air Force Base in California, where the two jets flew at speeds of up to 1,200 miles per hour and practiced a range of dogfighting scenarios. Footage released by the US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency showed the jets maneuvering through the skies around one another in a step up from previous testing. The AI-controlled fighter jet, called the X-62A Variable Stability In-flight Simulator Test Aircraft, is a modified version of an F-16." @Calian Group is currently leading a project supporting development of intelligent systems for the Department of National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes (DND/CAF). The Calian team is working with a range of emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), multimodal displays, attention-aware displays (sustained attention), clutter and situation awareness, trust in automation, human automation interaction with unmanned systems, man-unmanned teaming, intelligent adaptive interfaces, augmented cognition, adaptive learning and intelligent tutoring. The Silent Hunter short range air defense system being operated by Saudi forces is being reported as having success intercepting Houthi-launched drones. When operating in cross-national contexts, the ability to train using virtual models that reflect up-to-date equipment fielded by military partners is critical. Doing so ensures personnel can recognize friendly assets in the battlefield, and understand how vehicle geometry and performance characteristics will affect real-life manoeuvres. Silent Hunter is one of our newest models, added to the VRSG library last week and available for download at no cost for users with active software maintenance. VRSG’s 3D military and civilian entity models feature highly detailed geometry, articulated parts, damage states, and advanced animations such as moving wheels or tank tracks that turn at a rate coupled to vehicle velocity. Many have multiple paint schemes and most support time real-time, physics-based thermal sensor viewing within VRSG. #model #3d #3dartist #virtual #military #training #simulator #simulation #defense #silenthunter #airdefense #CUAS #drone #counterdrone
