Physician -Scientist Studying and Developing Pharmacological and Non-Pharmacological Treatments for Psychiatric, Neurologic, Immunologic, Rare Disorders, Artist, Ballerina, Art Therapist, Positive Psychiatry Enthusiast
For October being National #Arts and #Humanities Month and #EmotionalWellnessMonth, I created a special abstract ballet "#Success-#Self-#Spirit-#Strength". My ballets are always for #health, #happiness, and #emotionalwellness. I am happy to share the introduction to my ballet in this video. I chose #classicalmusic by Antonio Vivaldi, Autumn, which is #beautiful, #energetic, and #optimistic, and the #choreography is mine. I feel this music connects to my #heart and #spirit. I briefly introduce what is #emotional #wellness, from a #biomedical view, and my view. I believe that ballet is excellent for emotional wellness because it helps to manage stress, it is a form of #mindfulness, it is beautiful and joyful, it is physical #exercise and involves #learning and memory, improves sleep, and has beautiful music, all of which boost #resilience and help to regulate emotions. Here is a resource center from The National Institutes of Health (NIH) containing a toolkit for emotional wellness, which I mention in my presentation: https://lnkd.in/evtCp9m3. Hopefully, this video and ballet will inspire you to do something positive and #dance ballet for emotional wellness. #emotionalwellnessmonth #ballet #dancemovementtherapy #ballerina #arttherapy #holisticmedicine #positivepsychiatry #stressmanagement #aesthetics #health #happiness #mentalhealth #physicalhealth

Today for #health and #happiness, #art break and inspiration to #dance throughout your day, at home or work, I would like to share my #ballet "A Midsummer Night's Dream". It is from last year April 2, which is my birthday, and is a true example of my #intuition. Out of so many beautiful ballets I love, I don't know why I chose to dance to it on my birthday. Yesterday I learned that Frederick Ashton staged this ballet (with the name The Dream) for the first time at the Royal Opera House in London, UK on my birthday April 2, 1964. The occasion was the 400th birthday of William Shakespeare with whom we share the same birthday April 2. This is more about the ballet "The Dream" from The Royal Opera House, which I came across yesterday when researching which ballet I want to dance next for #happiness and #health. https://lnkd.in/gDS3QkFM Intuition works in strange ways, I have found. Without knowing why you choose the most appropriate #action for any given moment and situation, without reasoning, it's your first choice if you still yourself. However, with #reasoning, you may not always listen to your intuition. So it's good to play and test your intuition and inner voice, which will be beneficial for #work and personal development! For example, if you are a #physician, you intuitively know what to ask the patient, look for, and the best treatment. If you are a #scientist, you choose the most appropriate questions to solve or techniques for testing your hypothesis (if you have one). It is not surprising that notable scientists like Dr. Rita Levi-Montalchini thought intuition is essential in #science. This is how ballet helps to develop one's #intuition. #ballet #ballerina #heart #mind #soul #intuition #womenhistorymonth

As a former ballet dancer, I've found my way back to watching a lot of YouTube ballet videos. In watching the videos, I'm reminded of the need for FOUNDATIONS in ballet! If one cannot do a "tendu" with appropriate understanding, one cannot dance well in ballet. Tendus can be thought of as completely boring and basic - "no big deal" kind of moves. Yet, a mastery of tendus is significant. I constantly think about FOUNDATIONS with estate planning. If one cannot do simple preparations with appropriate understanding, one cannot plan for the future well in estate planning. Yet, just as in tendus, there are numerous factors and complexities with the “basics” that can completely throw people off. Doing sloppy tendus over and over again is useless. Lacking the understanding of tendus is the first problem . . . then we need to practice our understanding, build the right muscles, change tempos, change exercises, etc.! Tendus and basic estate planning require some depth - depth that you can gain (and practice) with the right help.

Artistic Director Ndigo, Dance & Yoga Studio in Belgium. Empowering Dancers: Unlocking Their Full Potential Mentally and Physically. 🏆Best Dance Pedagogy Award
The surprising similarity between ballet and success: Before you get anywhere in ballet, you first fail—a lot. But the dancers who make it, are the ones who learn from their failures and get back up. It's the same with success. You stumble and fall, you fail, you lose confidence. But asking yourself the right questions after a failure can change everything: - What did I do wrong? - What can I do better next time? - What lessons can I learn? You're not a ballet dancer, but you have something in common with them. Failing is just a step towards success. Picture: Me talking to my students after the ballet exam. They made a mistake in the waltz variation but still continued. I am praising them for not giving up.

Does Perfection Have To Be The Measure Of Ballet? Is it possible to imagine the ballet world without a primary teleology of aesthetic perfectionism and a baseline of low self-worth? Is it possible for our culture at large to stop conceiving of art and fame in this way?

For #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth and an afternoon #art break, I would like to share my abstract #ballet for #health and #happiness, which I created (#choreography, #music, #costume). I am dancing as a #yellow #butterfly, which symbolizes the radiance of the sun, #happiness, positivity, personal growth, and new beginnings, symbolized by the yellow. It is a reminder to have a positive outlook and find joy in the moment. I chose beautiful #classical #music by Ludwig Van Beethoven, Piano Sonata No. 16, Op. 31, which is light and lively, reminding me of flying butterflies. When dancing this ballet I wish to embody the wonderful qualities symbolized by the butterfly. The butterflies symbolize the #soul in Greek mythology and #love and #romantic feelings in Chinese culture. I am wearing green butterfly earrings from Lloyd Williams. This ballet is perfect for May #mentalhealthmonth because the butterfly symbolizes the soul and spirituality, and ballet is excellent for #mentalhealth. If you wish to dance ballet, please confirm with your physician it is fine to do so. Classical ballet has preventative and therapeutic benefits in #neurologic, #movement, #sleep, #psychiatric, #cardiovascular and other disorders. However, it is difficult to study them in a scientific way because the effects are quite individual. This is similar to choosing your first pointe shoes, which is a careful process and normally has to be done by an experienced person, in cooperation with the dancer. New pointe shoes hurt your toes even if you're an experienced dancer and they fit well. Subsequently, an experienced dancer may know how well-fitted pointe shoes feel and choose themselves. Therefore, with experienced physicians, ballet teachers, and art therapists, it may be possible to design personalized ballet classes. #ballet #ballerina #dance #art #dancetherapy #movementismedicine #physicalhealth #mentalhealth #holistichealing #wellness #stressmanagement #arttherapy #wellness #spirituality #love #Soul #heart #mind
