With Mother's Day around the corner, I wanted to share this blog post written by my cousin, aka The Basic Ranch Mom. It is so well written and truly embodies what it's like to be a mother from her perspective and others. "We look into the face of overwhelming adversity, and we move forward with conviction." It's a short read, check it out! https://lnkd.in/gN7VYgnh

The Midwest Survival Guide From comedian and journalist Charlie Berens, creator of the viral comedic series "The Manitowoc Minute"--a hilarious full-color guide to Midwestern culture. Someone once said, "Love means never having to say you're sorry," but that guy was from Brooklyn. Midwesterners say sorry at least fifty different ways. They'll even interchange it with hello...and goodbye. Speaking of goodbyes, those can last for hours in the Midwest...sometimes days if you're not prepared. That's where The Midwest Survival Guide comes in. It will keep some poor soul from missing their flight to Burbank because an epic Midwest goodbye turned into an impromptu trip to deer camp. But this book is just as much for Midwest natives as it is for outsiders. There are 12 states to cover, and each one comes with its own unique quirks, culture, and truck stops. Could you imagine living in the Midwest your entire life and not know the proper order of "ope," "geez," and "sorry"? That's like forgetting your date's name. At some point, it's no longer appropriate to ask. Not to worry! Charlie Berens is here to help. He's a comedian and Wisconsin native whose comedy tours have taken him all across the United States, but mostly across the Midwest. He's seen it all, and now it's his honor to guide you through: Saying hello (not as easy as you think) The long goodbye (even harder) Dating and mating rituals. Yes, casserole is involved. Recipes for your next church potluck Tips for your next church bar crawl What to do when (not if) you hit a deer Truck stops, tourist traps, and significant cultural destinations How to handle your Midwestern boss Full of photos, illustrations, sidebars, quizzes, and jokes worthy of a supper club stall, The Midwest Survival Guide is a walleye-deep look into a distinctive, beautiful, and bizarre American culture, and the best gift you could give Midwesterners, or those aspiring to be...aside from rhubarb. https://lnkd.in/g5Vc5P9c

Every successful person has a painful story, so never give up. A school bell that sounds as a disturbance at 8:am also sounds interesting at 2:pm... is just a matter of time..so Don't envy anyone. Not everyone walking fast has an appointment. Some have running stomach!. ...If a rose smells better than tomatoes, It doesn't mean the rose can make a better stew. Don't try to compare yourself to others. You also have your own strength, look for it and build on it. All animals that exist, were in Noah's ark. A snail is one of those animals. If God could wait long enough for snails to enter Noah's ark; His door of grace won't close till you reach your expected position in life. Never look down on yourself, keep looking up. Remember that Broken crayons still color_. Keep on pushing, you never can tell how close you are to your goals. I though this can serve as an encouragement for someone here.

Working on this idea of a guy named Max whose roommates with a anthropomorphic dog named Champ. Much like my Alaskan Mermaid, this will be another comic series I'd like to turn in to. I plan to expand on this idea of humans and animals residing in together in society. So more ideas are to come up! As for this post, I couldn't decide which drawing version I liked more, whether Max focuses on writing a list with Champ asking him to add dog treats to it, or if Max should show a bit of an annoyed expression due to Champ telling him to get him the treats. So I decided to share both of these! FYI, since I can't share the other version in this one post here, see the other one in the comments section below...

so proud of my friend and former "Alchemist Playground" co-host Eric Gee for having written a delightful new book that brings new life to the Old #myersbriggs classifications by first of all minimizing the old #extrovertedintrovert paradigm (which describes most of us at one time or another) and moves the test from the kinds of questions you can manipulate, to a series of key words that best describes you in certain situations. Then you get classified into 4 main groups or "packs" (The Gatherers, The Hunters, The Smiths or, my group, The Shamans) and from there into four subgroups (in the case of The Shamans, Panda, Baboons, Humpback Whales, or, as I am, Dolphins). It's a great way to explore not only your desirable and less desirable tendencies, but how you compare to others within your sub-group and across groups. How empathy and optimism can flip to hypersensitivity and magical thinking. Shamans can stop feeling weird and understand they are simply rare and wonderful. Find out who your group is today!
