RING THAT BELL! - At Second Chance, we have our own special tradition that echoes the spirit of the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Just as track and field athletes ring a bell in celebration of their achievements, we have a bell that rings every time one of our participants reaches a milestone in their journey. It's a powerful moment of victory and hope, much like the bell that will soon join Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris after its long recovery from the devastating 2019 fire. This new bell at Notre-Dame, destined to ring during mass and prayer services, symbolizes resilience and renewal—values we hold dear at Second Chance. As the Gothic landmark prepares to reopen in December, we are reminded of the strength and perseverance that both our participants and the cathedral embody. Every time our bell rings, it’s a celebration of transformation, celebration and a step toward a brighter future. #secondchanceemployment #resilience #notredame #ParisOlympics2024 #thisissecondchance

At Blue Peak Strategies, we dearly hold the ethos and pathos that define the Olympic spirit—an ethos of respect, unity, and global camaraderie. We are profoundly dismayed by the recent actions of the Paris International Olympic Committee (IOC) organizers in allowing the portrayal of the Last Supper with drag queens, which was acknowledged only after significant public backlash. This decision not only contradicts the Olympic spirit but has also deeply offended our associates from diverse backgrounds and faiths. We stand with them in condemning this portrayal, which shows a troubling insensitivity to the sacred symbols and traditions that many hold dear. Such actions undermine the very foundations of respect and understanding that should be at the heart of the Olympics and all its associated cultural exhibitions. We urge the organizers to not only address this lapse in judgment but also to take definitive steps to ensure that future exhibitions fully respect and reflect the diverse tapestry of global cultures and beliefs. The Olympics should be a time for bringing people together, not dividing them through insensitive portrayals. #RespectOurFaiths #GlobalRespect #StandWithBelievers #Olympics2024

The Olympic Rings They were created in 1913 by Pierre de Coubertin, founder of the modern Olympic Games. They represent the union of the five inhabited continents: Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania. The colors, along with the white background of the Olympic flag, were chosen because at least one of these colors appears on all the national flags of the world. The meaning is said to be: "Blue" ring: represents Europe. "Yellow" ring: represents Asia. "Black" ring: means Africa. "Green" ring: represents Oceania. "Red" ring: symbolizes America.

Watched part of the Olympic opening. Got to a drag show. Drag queens parodied the Last Supper at the opening of the Olympics in Paris. And a beheaded Marie Antoinette sang along from the window. I have a simple question - is being normal not normal anymore? I'm asking you this question from "totalitarian" Russia. Yes - the color play with the Eiffel Tower was beautiful. #Russia #Putin #commonsense #IOC #ThomasBach #Paris #TheOlympics

Outcry over Paris’s plan to permanently install Olympic rings on Eiffel Tower. "The Eiffel Tower is not intended as an advertising platform," said the great-great-grandson of the tower's engineer. For the 2024 Summer Olympics, Paris adorned the Eiffel Tower with giant Olympic rings. Mayor Anne Hidalgo announced plans to make this display permanent, but descendants of Gustave Eiffel oppose the idea. “It does not seem appropriate to [us] that the Eiffel Tower, a historical symbol of Paris and France, should be permanently associated with an external organization, no matter how prestigious it may be,” said the Association of Descendants of Gustave Eiffel (AGDE). They argue that the Olympic rings should be removed after the Games, allowing the tower’s façade to highlight various causes as it has in the past, such as supporting Ukraine. A Change.org petition opposing the rings has gathered over 33,000 signatures. Critics feel that the Eiffel Tower should not be permanently altered for an external event, regardless of its prestige. Despite this, Mayor Hidalgo plans to keep the rings, stating, “As mayor of Paris, the decision is mine, and I have the agreement of the IOC. So yes, they will stay on the Eiffel Tower.” She sees the rings as a celebration of the Games’ success and the enthusiasm it brought to France. Supporters argue that the rings, symbolizing peace and unity, would serve as a lasting reminder of Paris’s role in the Olympics. Hidalgo also intends to work with ArcelorMittal to create a lighter version of the rings for long-term display. She believes the rings would be a fitting addition to the landmark, preserving the spirit of celebration. #artcollecting #artexhibition #artmuseum #artinvesting #artinvestment #artcollector #artnews #artworld #artmarket #artmarketnews #artauction #arthistory #worldrecord #modernart #impressionism #postwar #eiffeltower #olympics https://lnkd.in/etDDEMkc

By keeping the Olympic rings on the Eiffel Tower, Paris risks compromising the historic integrity of its iconic landmark. The decision by Mayor Anne Hidalgo to make the rings permanent has sparked controversy among descendants of the tower's designer, Gustave Eiffel, and locals who cherish the monument's originality. The Eiffel Tower, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, has stood tall for 135 years, symbolizing Paris and France's rich history and culture. The Olympic rings, installed during the recent games, were meant to be a temporary addition, but Hidalgo's plan to keep them permanently has raised concerns about the tower's protected status and the need for preservation. Critics argue that the rings' presence alters the tower's aesthetic and compromises its historic significance. The Association of Gustave Eiffel's Descendants has expressed strong opposition, stating that the tower should not become an "advertising outpost." As the debate continues, Parisians and tourists alike are left wondering if the Olympic legacy is worth compromising the city's most iconic landmark. Update on the Eiffel Tower / Olympic rings issue after #Paris2024 As you will remember, the Paris mayor announced recently that the Olympic rings - protected as trademarks and olympic properties - will remain on the Eiffel Tower after the Paris games with the consent of the International Olympic Committee – IOC until 2028. She ordered last week the removal of the rings in order to have them replaced with lighter ones that can withstand the winter weather. However, Gustave Eiffel's heirs consider that the Eiffel Tower being the symbol of Paris and France should not be joined by the symbol of an external organization on a permanent and commercial basis. Still opposed to the project they offered to have the rings stay only until the end of 2024. One could imagine the French State having a say in this matter! However, as strange as it may seem, the Eiffel tower, which is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site, is not classified as a historical monument in France: the proposal made at the beginning of 2024 by the French Ministry of Culture was refused by the Paris mayor and not overruled by the Ministry. As a result, the Eiffel tower being listed but not classified as a historical monument, the French State can’t oppose to its modification. What a crazy situation! #sports #culturalheritage #trademarks #Toureiffel Olivier Legrand
