Unless your car has advanced technology that allows you to get the oil changed every 5-7,000 miles, oil changes are typically needed every 3,000 miles. For our car recipients, this means that they need to get an oil change every 3 months, at minimum, if they drive an average of 14,263 miles per year. Oil changes, among other car maintenance, can be very costly, especially for our reduced-cost repair recipients, who are low-income, wage-earners.
